Sony has been shipping the H1 flagship in june past 3 years.
Seems to me like a choice, not availability of cpu.
All the OEMs have been Qualcomm's partners, I dont think Qualcomm would do such move and hand over initial supply to Sammy.

Last year Mi6 started to be shipped in April.
U11 was before XZ Premium too.

Samsung is producing the 845, and 835 for qualcomm for the past 2 years and also the 820 (14nm). Here is the press release for the 835, can't find any specific press release for the 845 stating samsung is manufacturing (more on this later) it but doubt they would change from samsung since the 845 is using the 10nm FinFET LPP process from samsung.

https://www.qualcomm.com/news[....]s-technology-latest-snapdragon

The SD835 was announced in 2016 but the very first device that actually shipped with the SoC was the Samsung S8 in April of 2017. You said the Mi6 came out earlier, true it was announced April of 2017, but it didn't start shipping until June 2017, meaning around the same time as the XZ premium.

http://smartphoneandroid.com/[....]e-17th-along-18k-gold-ceramic/

During a press conference on April 19th in China, Xiaomi announced the upcoming launch of the Xiaomi Mi6 will begin shipping June 17th,

Going back to MWC 2017, a few high end phones were announced, LG G6, Sony XZs, XZ premium and HTC U Ultra. As I stated above, the first SD835 phones to ship to customers was the Samsung S8/S8+ in the states and other areas it was sold (EMEA got the exynos version). The next phones with the SD835 to ship were, XZ premium and the Mi6, both in June 2017. Two phones, LG G6 and HTC U Ultra both shipped with the SD821, but shipped earlier, Feb-March 2017 as well, to maybe get ahead of the competition, ie S8.

Sure both HTC and LG could have waited for the SD835 but that would have meant waiting until it seems June 2017 to ship their flagships with SD835 or skip the 835 and go for the SD821 which was available for immediate shipping. Subsequently both HTC and LG released SD835 devices later on, HTC in June 2017 and LG later on at IFA in September 2017. Same goes for a lot of other phones that shipped with the SD835, most were H2, more specifically, Q3 2017.

So why the wait for SD835 devices from HTC and LG? Could be that Qualcomm said, if you want the SD835 you will have to wait, either because initial supply run was already taken by Samsung, or when Samsung offered to produce the SD835, they gave Qualcomm conditions, ie we get first dibs on the initial supply perhaps so many millions of units or we have exclusivity of the SoC until later we release our phone first and then the other manufacturers can get their hands on it.

It seems logical for Samsung to ask for such an exclusivity, after all their fabs were making the SoC for Qualcomm, and without Samsung, there would be no SD835, from what I read, TSMC didn't have their 10nm up and running for mass production and I doubt Samsung wanted to use their 16nm. After the SD810 overheating fiasco, I feel Qualcomm wanted a shift to someone else. I don't recall if the SD820 had any overheating issues but it was the first SoC that Samsung made for Qualcomm, unless the older Snapdragons were samsung as well, but I feel that was TSMC and other fabs.

4 months behind it seems samsung.

While Qualcomm announced that production of the SD835 started in November of 2016, no specific info exists about the SD845 production, only a press release.

https://www.qualcomm.com/news[....]form-introduces-new-innovative

https://news.samsung.com/glob[....]10nm-finfet-process-technology

Good news is that it will use the LPP process, which should provide better performance than the current LPE used in the SD835. Samsung announced start of mass production of 2nd gen 10nm, LPP in late November last year, which is perfect inline with the announcement last year about SD835 start of production.

No idea if TSMC is producing the SD845 since they want to focus on 7nm, but they do have 10nm for apple A11. Perhaps someone knows more and if SD835 or SD845 will have some TSMC production?

No doubt, the exclusivity clause may also be a factor with the SD845 as I mentioned in my earlier post, meaning Samsung S9 gets first dibs on release and ship to customer, and then after that other companies can get their hands on the SD845. S9 will be announced on the 25th, shipping around 2 weeks later, supposedly 16th of March. Perhaps after that date the exclusivity will be over for other firms, which could mean anything from a late April 208 to early May 2018 release for any Sony device with SD845.

And now for some speculation

β€œThis implies Qualcomm is switching back to TSMC for its first 7 nm product ramp,” said independent analyst Andrew Lu in a report for Smartkarma. Samsung may have delayed its 7 nm ramp as a result of its decision to fully implement EUV at the 7 nm node, according to Lu. Qualcomm several years ago switched from TSMC to Samsung as its foundry for Snapdragon processors.

TSMC said it expects to do 10 customer tapeouts on 7 nm during the first quarter and a total of 50 tapeouts during 2018.

With Apple moving to 7nm, and samsung not providing any 7nm product this year at all, only 8nm, maybe Qualcomm will be one of those new TSMC customers for 7nm. This remains to be seen, so far no rumours yet about any new chips from Qualcomm(?), probably any news about post SD845 products could come in the summer? Unless someone has seen something online about new Qualcomm products?

"In 2018, Samsung will provide 8nm and 11nm processes to meet customers’ needs and start a risk production of 7-nano." The so-called 7nm risk production is something that TSMC started last year, and it is allegedly the foundry that will make Apple's upcoming A12 chipset. There is thus a big chance that the iPhone 9, Xs and Xs Plus will beat the Note 9 when it comes to chipsets, unless Samsung's phablet ships with an 8nm processor, which will pretty much be equivalent to whatever TSMC churns out at 7nm.

While I doubt we'll see anything like a snapdragon SD850 or SD855 this year on 7nm for IFA products, it all depends how the SD845 will compete against the new Apple A12.

Anywho, sorry for the long read, for those wanting a tl;dr version.

Samsung probably had SD835 exclusivity since they manufactured it, and will probably have identical exclusivity for SD845 as well since they are probably also making the SoC.

Xperia with iPhone 7 like shape with more subtle curve at the corners right? No side bezels correct, top and bottom bezels? Glass body for the 4K and metal for the rest? Drop me some smileys.

Sony just announced new 1.46 Megapixel CMOS sensor that enables Global Shutter.
But I think this has nothing to do with the upcoming phones.

Why do you want fake renders in the rumors thread? They belong in concept threads.they clutter the thread and encourage certain insiders.
If it eases the wait for you check here
