Thank you for the detailed response. Sounds like Note 8 is noticeably larger than s8 plus which is a minus. I will have to try myself to see how much larger it feels. It's certainly not good if the extra weight is felt .
With camera I am am very interested in the 2× zoom. Is it good like the iPhone 's? How about the portrait mode ? I don't expect you to be able to try but if you could it would be very interesting to know. Otherwise as you said the s8 plus camera is already very decent .
For the battery I will wait the reviews to see how it is compared to s8 plus
Thank you for your help

No worries...
With regards to size, again the biggest things that stick out immediately are the thickness and weight compared to s8+.
Quick impressions are 2x zoom works well and as it should, obviously once you go further than 2x and into digital zoom, this is where quality slowly starts to drop. 'Live Focus' is basically Samsung's version of Portrait mode. To steal a paragraph from Engadget, as it explains very clearly what Live Focus does:
" Samsung's version of Apple's Portrait mode is called Live Focus, and it does several things differently. On the Note 8, you can see and adjust the amount of blur before you capture the picture as well as after. While you're framing your shot, you can drag a slider to open the aperture as wide as f/1.7 to get the most blur. Apple, on the other hand, doesn't let you edit the bokeh after the fact, nor does it show the soft focus in the viewfinder.
When shooting in Live Focus mode, the Note 8's camera defaults to the telephoto lens for a more close-up picture. But you can activate (or disable) a feature called Dual Capture, which snaps the same picture with both lenses, so you get a tight shot as well as a wider one. Dual Capture works only in Live Focus mode, though, and is enabled by default."

While on paper its a monster there isn't too much to separate it from the S8+. Not sure how the camera will be but this thing is big so while the S8+ is also big, it is pretty comfortable. Fingerprint scanner position is not good, should've been anywhere else on the back. The screen looks good because its more squared than the S8+ but talking to Samsung fanboys, they're still on the fence and a little disappointed that the battery didn't get a bump for example. Not impressed by 6GB RAM, would be just fine with 4GB and would probably make it cheaper because that price is ridiculous. I think they need to make it more different since these plus phones came out; my favorite memory of the Note was the Note 4 because while the S4 was killing it then, the Note 4 killed the S4 and double killed everything else.
Note4 came out in the year of the S5 mate. Remember, Samsung only began matching the numbers last year by skipping Note6 and calling it Note7.
But I do agree, the Note4 was leaps and bounds better than the S5.

My bad but you get my point, there was a big difference between the Note and S5 in terms of software and design. Congratulations on your order, black is the only one that works with the huge black camera and fps block. |

I've always liked the Note range from Samsung and this one looks to be the best one yet except for one rather large detail. Of the 64gb storage as advertised only around 30gb is accessible to the user!! Should've went to 128gb especially considering the price.

Can you please confirm that Note 8 has only 30 gb available internal memory ?S8 has 46 gb available so I find it hard to believe that this is indeed the case
Thank you for confirming that ×2 zoom is good this is one thing that interests me in this phone . I wonder if for the portrait mode the person has to be not further than a certain distance from the phone like in iPhones case ? Anyway I am happy to hear the camera sounds good . Can't wait to see reviews though
Also congrats Tsepz hopefully you will receive it in the 15th . Are you receiving anything extra ? Here in UK preirders are getting the dex thing for free

@aussieland1 my friend back in England sent me this.
Take a look at @ToonFan85's Tweet: https://twitter.com/ToonFan85/status/901145880752947200?s=09
Quite shocking if you ask me.

1. Have checked 2 devices. Very close to retail firmware. Both are ~50gb.
2. Have successfully used Live Focus mode at a distance of 4-5 meters. Haven't tried further.

Thank you so much for the prompt reply . This has made me again consider this device. I find it interesting that you said 50 gb though as my s8 plus uses approx 17 gb for system files - this means that somehow Samsung managed to reduce the system files size on note 8? Anyway not complaining - I would rather have too much storage then too little
Also thank you for confirming the live focus, 4-5 meters are plenty I would definitely not need more than that
Does note 8 come with full Bixby on it ? (I mean voice commands ). Did you try it ? Is it any good ? Also out of 6gb of RAM how much is available . I am wondering how much difference extra RAM makes in real life usage. I imagine it should help when multitasking (I.e. use 2 apps at the same time)

@Tsepz_GP-good choice.also pre-ordered midnight black note 8.
@aussieland-dont think the note will use that much storage as my S8+ still has 43gb free with system storeage and my apps added.

To think that I was so close to getting a Sony XZ Premium, I would have hated myself had I done so as I am truly loving the Note8's design and that enormous display
Nothing against the XZP, but since getting the S7 Edge I have realised that a 5.5inch Display simply isn't enough I am a heavy media consumer, and each year I get worse, I watch more and more movies and series on my phone in bed, at this point I watch more series and movies on my phone than on the TV and iPad combined, lol.
I kind of wish Sony and HTC joined Samsung, Huawei and LG in making these phablet beasts, I'd love to see another top end Xperia Ultra model.
Anyway back to Note8
I know it is a sponsored blog post, but I am almost pretty much sold on the Black Spigen 'Thin Fit' case it is in my Amazon shopping cart but I won't pull the trigger until I've seen SPECK, Muvit and Case Mate's offerings.

@daviep
Thank you. I also have S8 plus and noticed the same thing . >500 has already confirmed that it has around 50 gb available (Which is more than s8 plus )
Played with a Note 8 today in car phone warehouse store. It felt nice and the screen curves not as pronounced as s8 I thought . (Maybe because of s pen )
I checked of course the space available to user and it was same as what xperia junkie posted however I noticed the phone was on retail mode which always skews the internal available storage . In light of this and what >500 said I am fairly certain the available storage will be same or better as S8 plus
Battery timed from Samsung...as expected not as good as s8 plus

Well, both devices were 48-49.5gb. Most of the software is the same is the S8, with the obvious differences being the features specific to the Note taking up more space, Ie, Air command. I'm confident it will be somewhere between 45-50gb.
Bixby will feature yes. As you probably already know, voice command is now available globally, though just US english. Availabe RAM I have not checked. Like you said, might help a little with multitasking, although not much different with 4gb phones. Biggest differences would come with things like DEX, App Pair etc.
How did you find the size of the phone? Did you notice differences in thickness/weight compared to s8+, as the rest of the dimensions aren't too different. Edges are definitely not as pronounced as s8, obviously due to S-Pen uses. Also, retail modes on Samsung phones are only ever 2-3GB, plus any other junk apps they have installed for the showroom, like games etc.
@Tsepz_GP
Get the green alcantara case. It's very nice in person. I want one for my s8's.

More than likely.
