so does the the xzp have the 4k screen in the ui and 3rd party apps as stated by moogoo if so then that would mean almost all the time?

I am not happy with the roxfit screen protector. it definitely takes away from the beauty of the device. it's just plain ugly. the hard case is ok but mine does not seem to fit as perfectly as I would have liked. There is a tiny bit of air on the back and it absolutely LOVES fingerprint oils. it smears everywhere and is a pain to wipe off more than off the glass of the phone. The corners don't seem to fit perfectly for me. COuld be just me. Sigh. It'll stay on to protect my baby but I am now on the lookout for a new screen protector, so if you find a nice one (glass preferred) let me know!

True dat about the roxfit. BUTT UGLY. I didn't even use it, am returning it. Ugh, that cutout for the Sony logo - Puke!

So did you buy it or not?

@alinefx - no doubt. I guess I will be returning it as well. It'll just cost money to ship it back, so that's a pain. Let me know if you find a nice one that's all clear!

IMPRESSIONS: i got a chance to play around a bit and noticed that when switching to 960fps, the amount of light needed for any type of usable picture is .. well.. A LOT. I was just standing in my hallway in what I thought was pretty bright light and under regular video conditions the scene was well lit, but switching to 960fps, the scene was nearly pitch black. I guess using this feature indoors will require a lot more light than what I have going on in my place... kinda sad by it, but I suppose if you think about how sensors work and what's happening, it's necessary and makes sense.

what a stupid "review". even the comments rip it apart.

Day 2 with my XZP. LOVING it. I find myself watching 4K vids a lot and just admiring that screen. It is truly magnificent.

You guys and your impressions of the phone is seriously making me want to whip out my credit card right this instant, and make the purchase.

Was hoping to wait until at least the end of this month or early next month to decide. Maybe by then, any, or most, manufacturing issues would be taken cared of.

It's really a pity that I could not play with the phone in person in the US. If I could, it would make my decision faster.

@MNX - take the plunge! you won't regret it! I have had zero issues. This phone is a dream to use. There are no camera distortions either as far as i can tell. i've taken several pictures of geometric shaped things to see if there's any issue but all seems good to me.

> There are no camera distortions

Great to hear!
I thought it's an issue for all devices.

Would you mind sharing the image with grid?

@MNX do it, you'll not regret it, it's the best phone on the market IMO.

so i snapped some photos of lines and grids to see if there's any real distortion. we have to remember, the XZP has a 25mm wide angle lens. So, seeing some barrel distortion is normal. That being said, I don't really notice much barrel distortion. If anything, I can notice a very slight pin cushion type distortion on some of the horizontal lines near the top and bottom edges of the frame. I don't notice anything with the vertical lines or diagonal lines that go straight through the frame. The Z1 shows similar slight distortion for horizontal lines. For comparison, I also took photos of the same grid with my Z1, Xperia S, and my Nikon d70s dSLR at 25mm.

First the grid:

XZP @ 25mm

Z1 @ 27mm

XS

Nikon D70s @ 25mm

Other real world(ish) shots with XZP:

let me know what you guys think.

I think they look fine to me too. nothing out of the ordinary for a 25mm wide angle equivalent lens.

now... has anyone found a good screen protector? or am i going to have to settle for an old school TPU one vs. a glass one..

There are some slight distortion on the top and bottom surrounding the center, but not in the center or noticeable anywhere else. To me, this is negligible, not some high end full frame lens. Even then, there's some distortion for those lens. This is nowhere near as bad as my faulty Z1.
