Yep/posted the phonearena article around the same page

(( will render your whole interface in 2160 x 3840 — no shenanigans here))
((f you want to enjoy Android 7 Nougat in full 4K, however reasonable that is when we are talking about a 5.5-inch screen, the newer Premium is the way to go. ))

Anyone know if the panel used in the XZ Premium is an IPS-NEO panel? JDI do list their 4K display as having this tech so I presume that's the one Sony are using.

Is it not worrying that with a 4K Display the XZP only comes with a 3230mAh battery? I thought it came with 3500mAh, just realized now it's actually much smaller.

Hopefully Sony give the option to toggle the Resolution for those who need to save power and for gaming.

Will be interesting to see what sort of Screen On Time people get with the XZP, when it arrives.

it is a slight concern to be honest, but only very slight.

never had any issues with battery life with it came to any xperia i've had. Some have been worse than others, but most got better after some updates. with Qnovo and smart features, i'm confident it will give me a full day or longer of MY normal usage.

I'm sure gsmarena's stamina rating won't be that high, but no xperia's rating on there has ever been very good. when it comes to real world usage though, they still tend to beat out galaxies and iphones.

Is this out of your recent usage of iPhones and Galaxy or just from seeing how friends use them? I ask because this is the only forum where I hear this claim about Sony battery life.

I had a colleague with a Z5 that was always plugged in to the charger and I realised it's due to her gaming, she eventually moved to a iPhone 6S Plus and plugged in a lot less, either way I realised her usage was abnormal, she had a ton of games on her phone and iPad.

I also have friends and relatives with the same phone as me, now personally I can get well over 8hours SOT on my S7 Edge, while some can get more and others less, depending on what they use. I generally find that in Smartphones in general the iPhone Plus models tend to own everything in terms of Stand By, if you are a miderate to average user, but it starts getting muddled up with us have your users. I personally tried a relative's iPhone 7 Plus and was gobsmacked at how good it was at keeping a charge in Stand By and also frugal it was when being used.

Anyway I'll wait for the GSMArena and PhoneArena results, they will be more balanced thanks to more consistent tests.

let's save ourselves the time and effort of going back and forth and just agree that battery usage of a device depends heavily on personal usage, apps installed, and many other considerations.

what i'm more interested in is whether xzp is coming sooner than expected, according to doministry's comment.

This was also confirmed by the anonymous source over on the rumours page. Here's what was posted.

"the XZ Premium has seen massive amount of intrest and Sony expect pre-orders to be the strongest to date when pre-orders officially open in early May"

pre-orders in early may isn't really earlier than predicted, right? since originally the XZP was announced to be released by end of may, which was then "delayed" to 1st week of june. In any case, i don't think preorder dates have any indication of when it will actually be released, which is what truly matters.

would be nice to know when they were planning to have their global launch. vague timelines tend to turn off unsure consumers

Delays could be due to Snapdragon 835 manufacturing delays, Samsung has seen higher numbers than expected for the S8s, that could be affecting Snapdragon 835 supply to Sony.

It's a difficult one for OEMs who are dependent on Snapdragon SoCs.

Regardless of delays, I've not seen any dummies or coming soon adverts for this whereas maybe 2 days after the S8 was announced I managed to play with the S8+ in a shop. Since MWC, I've not seen or heard anything about the XZP and considering the S8 preorder numbers they seem to have a head start.

Having said that, YouTube has suddenly got lots of 960fps videos so I think people with that type of interest will pick it up. I assume these are done with the Xzs but they all look really cool and bring out the creative side of some people.

About battery life, everyone manages this in different ways so I have my personal expectations based on past devices namely my Z1 Compact. Nothing since then has been good enough for me and the general trend now is to reduce the battery capacity and rely on software tricks.
