Of course marketing is important but something has to catch the eye and be intriguing, I saw a lady with an X Compact on the train and it caught my eye because it was very small compared to what I usually see. I was intrigued.

did you buy the phone?

I have used couple other manufacture's smartphones right before my current xperia device and I have to say those manufacture's smartphones only looked good on paper. user experience were horrible

I can confirm this. I bought a vivo v3 max with 4gb of ram and the experience is much more terrible than xperia z5 compact with 2gb of ram. Specs means nothing if it has bad user experience.

Sensor size of the main camera has no influence in bezel dimensions. You can get rid of any camera bump by making the device a bit thicker. Take the new s8 as example. It has a big sensor, high display to body ratio, but a small bump on the back due to the fact that the device is quite thin 7.3mm if I'm not mistaken. Thinner than the average bezel monster from Sony. There are 2 reasons why Sony goes for monster bezels. 1: they are simply technically not able to minimize the bezels or 2: they don't want to because their main and home market love the big bezel design.

First of all, the bezel of this phone looks similar to xperia xa.

But in general I can explain you why sony has these bezels on top and bottom. It is the choice of the omnibalance minimal design, and no bump for camera. In order to create a thin phone with no bump, the thickness is defined by the camera sensor and front and back glass/metal panel. You don't have space for screen on top of the sensor, tha'ts why the top bezel. With omnibalance you need to have the right proportion for the bottom bezel too. They could trim the bottom bezel as they did with xperia c4/c5 ultra, but it looks unglier than z series.

It has been proven that the most confort dimentions to hold a phone with on hand is the minimum width. Maybe other phones have bigger screens compared to xperias height, but they have bigger width, camera bumbs etc.

Personally I find bezels convinient when I put a ringing phone out of my pocket. With a smaller bezel phone, I always declined the call by misspressing the screen.

Anyways it is a matter of overall preference. You don't like Sony, stop whipping and chose a phone from another brand.

Guyz I got a tip from an anonymous source that the 4K flagship really exists. It might be showcased in MWC if possible but released in June. The source dosen't have any other info on the specs I'm afraid.

That's exactly what I discussed with Nodar, and now the possibility of early announcment / late release seems more plausibile and this strategy would ensure S835 for Sony's flagship.

If this phone would have 6GB RAM it would be best flagship on the market which Sony hasn't done in ages!

My speculation is 64GB base model.Remember the rumours about new Sony midranges having 64GB Rom?and the leaked XA ultra benchmark too

Thanks Nodar. I think Sony is in the unique position to have the best and most complete flagship in '17 if the "X Premium" would feature 6GB RAM.

Thanks for the info Joseph. Well damn, if Nodar winds up being accurate with all his info then I'll have to give him a big kiss

I'm very intrigued by what's to come and can't wait. Glad I didn't opt to replace my Z Ultra last year because I would've been too tempted to upgrade again if these rumored specs are true.
