Update on key concerns about OLED display in Pixel 2 XL as of now

1) Pixel Burn-In
(Google says problem occurs with specific display test app, not different day to day usage)

2) Screen Ghosting
(pixel has somewhat slow responsiveness in black color)

3) Blue shift pattern in off viewing angle
(Google says this is intended pixel cavity design but me this is 2017 why do we still have viewing angle issue)

4) Muted color
(Google says they made adjust for sRGB accuracy which give less saturate, to boost colors in next update)

Hopefully, Sony's upcoming OLED smartphone won't make same mistake.

5) Grainy image at low brightness

For mobile only.

A1E has LG Oled. But the STE increases quality.

google's solution: can't solve it, just give another year of warranty

quality? down the drain just like everyone else except maybe Apple

There are lots of small changes Sony mobile has done in the software department from last year that really makes me happy. I'm really happy that How serious Sony is with software and monthly security update for their flagships. If I'm not wrong I think only samsung and pixel phones get timely security updates but samsung is as slow as ever providing major updates. I also like how smooth and fast the recent xperia phones are and remain the same for a long time unlike samsung and chinese phones with beefier hardware.

Other much underrated feature is their quonovo charging ( they started with their X series last year). It's really give a peace of mind to think that my flagship phone going to have almost the same kind of charge after 2 years. Really neat features.
And despite having small battery they give very good battery life. Chinese phone maker despite their big battery still struggle in this aspect.

Now that we are sure that we'll have a new design in 2018 with 78-80% STB ratio, one of my main complains will be address. Only thing that worries me is the camera. I wouldn't care if they phone doesn't have oled screen or 6/8 GB ram or 4k screen ( FHD lcd screen and 4GB ram are more than enough for me, I've no need for 6 GB ram in mobile ) but I do need a great camera. I wouldn't even mine using the same sensor only if they majorly improve their image processing.
There are the wishlist for my dream 2018 Xperia flagship -

Design: I don't mind even if they keep the omnibalance design but STB ration must increase. I find thin phone sexy. So the shouldn't be fatter than 7.2 mm.
Display: Please keep the FHD display no need for 4K unless you give support for VR. 5.5 inch.
Battery: atleast 3200 mAH
Camera: camera with better image processing, at least on par with u11. don't care even it's a single lens.
Keep the FFS but increase the volume.

Just got some info regarding 2018 1st half xperias.

Two mid-rangers will be released at CES. Those are equivalent of XA2 and XA2 plus (or Ultla), but different name and slightly higher range, closer to X series.

These two models correspond to previously found H4113 and H3113 on UAprof

At WMC, there will be two high end models, one for sure with S845, another one still tentative.
And as rumored, this flagship with S845 will indeed have completely new design with narrower bezel, equivalent of Xperia XZ1 Premium.

I do like the concept of this new Ultra....
Just curious about the black rectangle where the camera is.

Will all phones come with Qualcomm cpu now?
3500mAh + SD630 will give a huge battery life. Even with the big screen.

Does anyone know if R1 is just for India?
