That shows how insecure is Samsung, forbidding other rivals to launch flagships with latest processor on time. I do see this as a BULLY. I believe Samsung has paid Qualcomm alot more money to snap all initial production.
Insecure? Bully? More money? They're just big and popular. They know they'll sell a lot of phones so they need a lot of SoCs. It's that simple. What other choice did they have? Delay the S9 for the US and China to make it easier for their competitors? |

Qualcomm might as well just become part of samsung at this point. If they intend to give most of their supply just to one company every year, and do business this way. No way I would pay flagship price for any flagship phone that uses second tier SoC. |

If the next premium uses older soc then it is pretty much worthless to me. Not paying premium price for old shit very sick of this infact. Rather have them delay the release by a couple months.
i think it will be like XZ Premium this time, very early announce and late release
my guess is 2018 September announce and first batch available at late November, and early December will be totally available
Then non-Premium series will be using new sensor with 835 and available at 2018 early October

If it were to be as this time, then the new Premium would be announced at MWC and released a couple months away. I don't think we would necessarily need to wait for IFA. |

Samsung buy the chips because they can sell them, LG could order the same amount but would they use them or would they jut rot in a factory? Samsung have every right to do this, if anything Qualcomm should think about producing more meaning make another factory. It's sad that the other chip makers are not competitive enough to offer an alternative for others. |

I don't think Sony should go small bezel until they can integrate the side fingerprint scanner, front speakers and those camera sensors because the compromises are not worth it. From the design ideas that I have seen, such a design doesn't exist without dropping a major feature like the mid range leak with the fingerprint scanner on the back. Following the trend is not good enough if you compromise ao many features.
I have no concern about that, with Qualcomm recently activities show that hardest push on next generation bio-metric technologies such as Ultrasonic Fingerprint sensor which they announced back in early '16 and also new camera technique based on 3D depth sensing with likely to implemented in next generation of their top processors as well. Qualcomm shall make offers to anyone whose willing to pay their royalties
I make subject above to hope that Sony Xperia each flagships will have proper of a year market cycle and keep device and technologies has incremental upgrade in-line, instead of current policy which I don't feel it make Sony's properly competitive.
If Next Premium is on track of 18 months market cycle and launch in late of '18, Sony probably miss the very bullish first 5G hype train on their best device. But that's not really surprise they very much play on their safest bet, maybe maybe big launch of THIRD Premium happening before the Olympic 2020 in Tokyo, Who's know?

Look at rear cam.
It looks different.
I know it is f2.0 but does not look like one..
When you look at XZP cam, it is flat.
The one of XZ1 looks a sphere..

Top and bottom bazel is too big.
Pixel XL 2 for me this year. If google manage to get the latest gen camera module form LG with slightly wider aperture then low light should be amazing even with last year Sony sensor. Good luck Sony. You are going to need it this year selling this phone over all the small bazel ones. |
