Apple's warranty for water-resistant iPhone 7 doesn't cover liquid damage
http://www.zdnet.com/article/[....]liquid-damage/#ftag=RSSbaffb68

..............

I wonder why would they say its waterproof then not include it in the warranty? They dont have confidence in their own phone?

cheers!

There is so much biased BS in that article.

Before we start knocking an article and stating a person is a "sheep" without really even knowing the person, vs maybe considering that person writing such article is just overly impressed (it can happen you know) ... let's keep an open mind and let them be them.

It's possible that although 4 other manufacturers uses the same dual-camera setup, 1 of which overtly LIED in their ads and was publicly caught so that they, ahem Lieca camera bull ahem, had to issue a public apology ... Apple may have had time to refine camera quality.

let's face it ... after the iPhone 3GS Apple has steadily and increasingly improved their picture quality from their smartphones exponentially with EACH model ... I cannot and I highly doubt anyone here can say the same EVEN for Sony - of which Apple has been using their hardware! Something to be said when your competitor can use your equipment better than you can.

Oh and don't forget quality Camera accessories for increasingly zoom and quality

I know crazy right?! Yet you gotta ask yourself, are these people making money off these phones, are they integrated heavily into their lives: health, home security/automation (saving power consumption). This isn't as funny as some would think, I know an executive that was on the cutting edge of this since the iPhone 5 in the USA.

About the two black models, the glossy one is metal or is it glass on top of metal or something? Anyone know if its just a glossy paint job because it looks like it will collect micro scratches over time.

It's metal ... a completely different paint bonding process is used for the Jet Black model. It'll still chip! I can see a HUGE business opportunity if a fine protective lacquer that offers heavy chip resistance as long as it doesn't affect accessory use.

To be fair.. They only claim water resistance.. Not water proof. It's only ip67.. Which doesn't include submersion. Only splashes and such.

Still pretty messed up if the warranty doesn't cover liquid damage in any scenario. (didn't read it just basing off the earlier post)

Water-Resistant does NOT (/=) equal Water-Proof.

Apple has only ever stated Water Resistant. Also almost 8mths ago Sony is not honoring water resistant claims themselves ... it's been over these boards and across the Earth as well. nobody is. So I guess Sony after years of experience not the first few months like Apple is not having faith in THEIR R&D, Experience and millions spent over years on their product either.

Hmmm, pontificate that.

If you're going to source a company made a statement source direct from the company NOT a third party half-witted half-rated news byte. I haven't, never had and never will do that - and I've been a member here for years.

And if they've done better than 29K from the Note 7 I'd say they've done an excellent job for a "non-innovative" product lol.

I find it alarming, and quite SAD really that NOBODY ... not ONE ESATORIAN member has stated ANYTHING about the AirPod's and Apple's push to drive this technology forward! Sony, ahem SonyEricsson, ahem Ericsson has been doing this for over a decade PULLING END USERS AND THE INDUSTRY from the beginning!

Let's point loathing in the right direction here.

Apple could have released Air Pods without removing the 3.5 mm head phone jack . I don't see anything innovating on removing a well known standard without offering a good alternative. For people not interested in air pods we now have to carry an adaptor or be stuck with Apple low quality ear phones

Fair Point... and I stand corrected.

But take Samsung, for example, and their S5 (which I think has the same ip67 rating as the new iPhone?)... includes 'water damage' in their warranty. I dont know much about Sony warranties... but if they're the same as Apple, then that's another brand for the consumer/customer to think about before buying a phone from them.

Dont you find it funny? I do...

Its just that every year before this one... Apple was always quick to boast about the "millions" of pre-orders and sales figures to the public... then suddenly, there's none? Suddenly they find it imperative to release a statement that says they're no longer going to do so? If you 'read between the lines'... I think this is their form of 'damage control'. They dont want the public's perception to change.. so they wont give them any info that "says" that.

About the airpods... I for one am not interested in them.

For one thing, they're easy to loose or misplace. I can forsee lots and lots of people buying a pair of these regularly. Unless made it so that you can buy only one? Still, every time you loose one (or two), that'll be another 159 dollars for Apple.

For another thing, if you're a man... you'd look like you're wearing a pair white earrings! I mean, of all the design possibilities out there... why do they have to make it look like 'regular ear phones with the wires cut off'?? They were just too lazy, imo. They could've done something oval or circular or triangular or squarish... why did they have to make it look like a pair of dangling earrings? I mean, what's up with that, don't they enough money for a redesign?? Or spend a little more for some R&D?

One last thing... instead of another port, the headphones adaptor (if you're going to use it) use the SAME lightning port, this means that you cannot listen to music and charge at the same time. What is so innovative about that?

I know that Apple is pushing this hard ... they keep on saying that "its time to let go of old tech"... but in my opinion, this is just a load of cr*p! I think its just their excuse for running out of space because they had to put all that waterproofing in there. I think no matter how hard they push this, if some or most people see this as a step backward rather than forward... then not that many will be interested.

Also... since we're on the subject of design. Was apple too lazy in the iPhone 7? Just look at where the 2nd speaker is... do they mean, they dont have money to redesign their phone's housing? So they just left those second set of speaker 'holes' there at the bottom even though it serves no purpose? What gives? I know that the iphone 8 next year will be the one that's going to be redesigned, because its the 'anniversary' phone... but using last years "housing" on this year's new phone just reeks of laziness.

cheers!
