Did they really just take the Z5, add a Snapdragon 820 and change the branding?
So does this mean the end of Xperia Z range then?
EDIT:
Smaller 2700mAh battery than Z5
Same 3GB RAM as last years devices.
I feel like Sony are not even trying to compete anymore.

from Press release:
Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA each have a range of matching Style Covers and will roll out in four elegant finishes; White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold, from Summer 2016.
So, June? That's far too long IMO
Also introducing some new battery tech/software:

This feels like the Samsung A-series. I expect a new flagship with 5.2" to 5.5" screen later this year |

Geez like, Summer 2016 far too late, why are they so incredibly slow??? The Xperia X Performance by then will end up competing with the LG G5 and HTC One X9 as I can guarantee both those will drop in price by that time. I hope Sony have a lot more up their sleeves as this is very poor.

Let's hope so, they now desperately need a Xperia Z5 Premium successor, or they will be far behind come June.

^^^
The glass edges are curved to provide smooth round edge... it's more like round edged glass than a curved glass thing

I HATE curved edges.
S7 is boring, G5 will be very expensive and Vivo Xplay will launch only in Asia...
I think i'll stay waiting something else.
Are you nervous? |

G5 looks ugly. It looks like a cheap asian brand mobile phone. The new x series is a good competitor for the A series of Samsung.
It's funny that all the major manufacturers are having their respective letters in the alphabet lol |

I think Sony easily could populate the market with this phone if the release date were March and retail price 499 EUR for the X Performance.
3GB is not really bad to a phone with just Full HD, if this indeed isn't the Flagship of 2016.
With Snapdragon 820 and "just" Full HD, this phone with eat any games.
Now when I have read the specs, this is indeed the flagship phone from Sony.
How many medium range phones have dedicated DAC?
EDIT
Now when I have seen some videos of the Xperia XA, my opinion about this phone is slightly changing.
The white one is really beautiful. The white X Performance doesn't look as good as the XA with narrower bezels.

I don't think Sony will sell a lot of these really
They don't really try.
