So when will the Xperia X release?

The official statement from Sony is "from Summer 2016" so, it could come in June, July or August...

AFAIK, there's still no word on any change of the release dates...

Thanks. Where did you see that? I just checked the official Sony website for that and couldn't find that.

Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA each have a range of matching Style Covers and will roll out in four elegant finishes; White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold, from Summer 2016.

Thanks. So, guess that means anytime from June up until the start of September then. Such a wait

still not enough time to destroy your current phone for the new phone?

Well, it's not like the competition for the OnePlus One invite, so no.

Side note:

Sony pay the HELL ATTENTION, we would like an upgrade to the Xperia Z5 Compact ... since many of us don't wish to have large screen phones (5"+). Some of us like functionality along with portability and style in a small package like the yesteryear of phones back in the day.

special note: Apple paid attention to their 31 million USA customers stuck on 4" screens ... this was a potential WIN for users to taste Sony's ecosystem and Android prowess! Time to step it up Sony.

I wouldn't go back to a screen size smaller than 5" but would also not want anything much bigger. Circa 5" is the optimum.

I too, looking for 5.1~5.7 as the best sizes... Apple did that because it has a lot of people who did not like the iPhone 6 in both design and size.. some even think that iPhone 6 body is not as sturdy as 5/5s

Just checked out the S6 Edge and S7 Edge and must say they are superb. Sony better step up in a big way or else this is the nail on their coffin now. I cant recommend a SONY over a Samsung to anyone anymore

They are indeed superb but I also checked the z5 series and they're not bad either. Both have their pros and cons although at very minimal difference.

I was looking over the past days at xda about z5 and it's true that the s6 or s7 have sharper image but it fails in the bokeh. Images of the s6 and s7 are suprisingly sharp but are too flat compared to the z series.

Moreover, after having the z2 for a while I don't think I will be able to go back to the regular headphones.

As for design, kudos to Samsung about the s6 and s7. They are indeed brilliant. For the first time, I would say that Samsung has the best design in the android world right now. Sony's omnibalance is just how do I say, "overused now"

Now, if Sony could make the design of XA in their next flagship that would be something.

I totally agree. My employer just switched from Verizon to T-Mobile and I had to get a chose a new phone. Since T-Mobile USA doesn't offer any Sony phones I ended up getting the GS7.
It is a very capable phone and Sony need to ketch up to Samsung or their efforts in the Mobile industry will not last long.

At this point I'm not even looking at Sony.

I have more faith in HTC pulling it out the bag over them.
Eagerly awaiting for the HTC 10 unveiling on April 12th.
Rumoured camera specs for example sound good, IMX377 (Nexus 6p Cam 1.5um) with OIS, Laser Auto, Phase detection and F/1.8/1.9 lens and front camera with OIS.
Curved 2.5D display
They've shown improvement with their processing since the M9 so hopefully it keeps improving with the M10.

The percentage difference in performance between the S7, X Performance and HTC will be around 1%. So far the S7 camera has looked great but not much of an improvement over the S6 or Z5, a percentage difference of lets say 10% and a single DxO point. Price difference will be more than 1%. Even though I'm pulling these percentages out of my bum, I don't see why people think Sony is so crap. It makes no sense to me.

S6 doesn't need waterproofing....it so awesome that S7 is waterproof. Sony are stupid for having glass....S6 and S7 are glass. iPhone sucks because of non-removable battery and no SD card....its the future because the S6 has it. When people couldn't find OIS on the S7 spec sheet everyone start w**king over how DIS is awesome even before a single photo was taken. It makes no sense to me.

Buying a Sony does not handicap your life in any way but it sounds might do to some people. The lack of leaks and the fact that I'm at work on a bank holiday has slightly influenced my post.

I am happy with Sony still. My Z3 has served me very well since September 2014. Photos turn out good as long as you know how to take photos. The battery is still very good, over a day and half when fully charged.
I don't care for OIS at all since we know that Sony DIS smoked the other competitors with OIS.
The 4 axis joke from Mi5. Ha ha so much for having "the best" image stabilisation on the market.

I am eagerly waiting for the X perforamance or HTC 10.
