Xperia X Performance isn't going to be sold in the UK. Just the Xperia X.
Was asking how it compared with the normal Z5?
Do you think that the Xperia X will release by May 2016?

and of which high technology are you talking about? Water proof smartphones are a standard for example in Japan where almost every brand has such devices. besides that the sgs5 and now again the sgs7 also have water proofing. |

Performance wise, it should at least be on par with the Snapdragon 810. As a matter of fact it is even going to be slightly faster. Making the Xperia Z5 line pretty obsolete once the Xperia X is being released. Only Xperia XA will perform worse than the Z5 line.

Thanks for the reply
If it's slightly better, then it can't completely render the Z5 obsolete. It would just be slightly better than the Z5, but still similar and comparable. Surely?
Otherwise, to use a metaphor, it would be like comparing the speed of stealth jet with that of a glider: just not comparable (completely different categories).

Considering the traditional Qualcomm cpu cycles looks like a different cpu will launch fall 2016; that maybe what Sony is waiting on.
Then again 820 has:
better battery performance using less power to achieve a LOT more performance along with Quick Charge 3.0

Xperia X won't have the the 820 processor and the Xperia X Performance (which does have it) won't come to the UK. Therefore, is the the Z5 comparable to the Xperia X?

Qualcomm tends to only announce new SoC in that time frame... but launch it months later... so what we might know in fall 2016 will actually be available in 1H17
And this is exactly why IFA is some how a bad timing for any maker who depends on Snapdragons.. as with IFA people will already know the SoC successor and the current used one will be somehow old or does not have the WOW factor as multiple phones with the same spec. have already been in the market for 6 months...

Some hard core fact ... Sony will LEAD the VR industry this fall.
Sony Jumps After Debuting Affordable Virtual-Reality Headset
http://www.bloomberg.com/news[....]l-reality-headset-below-rivals
Shares of the electronics maker climbed 3.2 percent to 2,883 yen at the close in Tokyo, their highest level since Jan. 6. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average declined 0.8 percent.
The Playstation VR goes on sale October for $399, the company said Tuesday at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. That’s about half the price tag on the $799 HTC Vive, developed by HTC Corp. and game publisher Valve. Facebook Inc. priced its Oculus Rift at $599. While those headsets may offer higher quality graphics, they also require high-end computers to run. In contrast, Sony’s device will be available to the more than 36 million people who already own a PlayStation 4.
“It’s a really compelling price that aims for mainstream market share and this is key for VR platform success,” said Damian Thong, an analyst at Macquarie Group Ltd. in Tokyo. “Sony probably thinks of PlayStation VR as a broader ecosystem push, something that not only will sell more PS4s, but will also encourage users to upgrade to PS5 in the future.”
There’ll be more than 50 games running off Sony’s system by the end of the year, the Tokyo-based company said. Electronic Arts Inc. is making a version of Star Wars Battlefront for the headset, although Sony declined to say whether that game would be among those coming out this year.
Oculus Rift headsets begin shipping to consumers on March 28, marking the beginning of a new commercial era for virtual-reality gaming. Using the headset requires a powerful personal computer that can cost more than $1,000. There’re only about 13 million computers worldwide that have the required capabilities, according to Nvidia Corp., the largest maker of computer-graphics chips.
We're already seeing their developers working on this to remote control AR-Drones with some nice implementations. Imagine using your Xperia doing this with USB to your Sony AR set or better yet processing power of your PS4!
Great news ... now if Sony can surprise and REALLY push this release date even earlier and NOT rely simply on the PS4 games to have users and especially developers alike work on this.

The official statement from Sony is "from Summer 2016" so, it could come in June, July or August...
AFAIK, there's still no word on any change of the release dates...

Thanks. Where did you see that? I just checked the official Sony website for that and couldn't find that.
