How much of a difference do people think having a Snapdragon 820, rather than any older SoC, like the 808; will make for the Z6?
even s810 is quite a bit better than s808 especially after the heat problem has been improved. s820 supposedly 40% better than s810. I think early antutu score is over 13000 and s810 is around 8000.
Wow! Well in that case, I should notice a HUGE difference when upgrading from my 2013 original Z, shouldn't I?

Even z to z1 is already an a pretty big upgrade. From s4pro to s800. |

The best strategy for Sony to do right now is to stop focusing on increasing their marketshare as they have stated before.
The premium is a good start. I'd like them to be on the same price tag as Apple so long as it is justified. I guess, it's time that they go all metal and stop putting cheap components in order for the price to be competitive.
Put oled, the highest ram, metal body, the best lens, better software, a better flash module, 64gb of internal storage.
They are underrated in their segment right now. I'd like to see them back as a premium brand. Unlike now that they are trying so hard to be an all-segment brand like Samsung
no ... THIS is the best strategy for Sony!
Sony Brings PlayStation and Network Services Under One Roof
Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC will begin operations from April 1, based in San Mateo, California, the Tokyo-based parent said in a statement on Tuesday. Andrew House, who has led Sony’s video game unit, will head the new company.
Chief Executive Officer Kazuo Hirai has said this fiscal year marks the beginning of an expansion phase after the maker of the PlayStation 4 cut thousands of jobs and shifted away from smartphones and TVs. Hirai’s management plan, announced in February 2015, calls for games and services, image sensors, movies and streaming music to drive growth in the next three years.
“Network and games have practically the same user base and off-line games are no longer the driving force of the market,” Amir Anvarzadeh, a manager of Japanese equity sales at BGC Partners Inc. in Singapore, wrote in an e-mailed note. “This merger of the two which are both under the watchful eye of Andrew House, who has executed flawlessly thus far, makes perfect
sense.”
Did you re-read this? Do you NOT see the blunder for Sony to run away from Ericsson's networking and mobile expertise and not PUSH them to futher innovate on the radio handset side not just the network?
“Network and games have practically the same user base" .... and 'Hirai’s management plan, announced in February 2015, calls for games and services, image sensors, movies and streaming music'
What combines all of these in one device that can enhance, further drive innovation and that can be marketed? The smartphone! Especially for movie generation and streaming, mobile gaming attached to services that offer these to flourish and enhance both content and consumption. Streaming Music ... Sony blows in this field but they do not HAVE TO ... their second to only 1 competitor to have THE MOST contracts and albums and tracks licensing. Combine to make a streaming service at a discount for existing streaming Kings (don't re-invent the wheel, make it better for people that require one to use. Don't change where the wheel is used or their choice of wheels').
Savvy?!

We might yet still see the Z6 at MWC 2016. The release may be in March 2016: http://www.pricepony.com.ph/b[....]0-and-23mp-to-launch-in-march/

Hmm, interesting if true/real. Wonder what the source of the story is, regardless, model numbers seem to line up with previous years 1H model numbers. Specs are nothing surprising, still missing battery capacity and storage. Also anyone know if the image mentions anything about USB? The G5 will have type C, it is apparent in the leaks, S7 is also rumoured to have it. If I end up buying a new XPS 15, I may skip the sony if it doesn't ship with usb type c.
It would be a shame if the device would basically be a Z5 with new internals. |

Z5 is about to launch in U.S. Can't imagine to showcase the Z6 at MWC. More likely is May/June |

It will more than likely be released soon after MWC / late March at the very latest.

It's sad to see Sony staying on the current sensor for the Z6. We are hearing a lot of news about new sensor that will end up in S7 (f/1.7 lens), and Sony staying on the f/2.0 lens, G5 is expecting to have awesome camera as well.
Also i doubt Sony will improve the camera quiality over the Z5 series which is not the best out there, but i hope they will at least fix the blurry corners.
Also we are hearing that iPhone 7 Plus will even have an optical zoom with 2 cameras.
Sony needs something spectacular to fight with others. |

Don't think we'll see the Z6 at MWC.
Little faith in Sony anyway, they've proved time and time again why you should have little faith lol.
But yes S7 camera sounding a killer.

Current sensor is still new and really good, even Samsung was impressed by it. What Sony needs to work on are optics quality and image processing. Optical image stabilization would help quite a lot as well. |

The samsung thing was only a rumour.
One I don't think was that true and I think If it was they were probably more "impressed" by the auto focus stuff.
I think its clear Samsung aren't interested in joining the MP race.
IIRC the 12MP rumour existed before the whole Sony 23MP sensor one did.
Even HTC are now going for 12mp with their HTC M10

HTC's ultrapixel camera has never been that stellar.
There is nothing wrong with Sony's 23MP sensor, they need to improve their optics and compression. |

i'm pretty sure sony can catch rx100's low light quality with bigger sensor and less megapixel(10-12 mp - 1/1,6 inch sensor) but problem is while they asking 1000 $ for the device how they can release a phone which is cheaper then compact camera
i really hope samsung will bring some serious competition about low light capabilities
it's almost comfirmed their cam is 12 mp with f1.7 lens.
http://www.cctv-information.c[....]ht_Transmission_Through_Lenses
there is numbers difference between stops. f1.7 has capture more light %40 then f2.0 lens...
combine with bigger pixels then probably s7 will capture 2x more light(maybe even more depend on sensor size) then z5's sensor , and with ois forces less iso it's overkill there will be no competetion. |
