honestly, if they do what the tip says and release a phone for sale the day after its announced, i will be shocked because that is a sony first.
as for 360 camera, that would be great as VR is getting lots of attention. would go great with some kind of association with playstation VR like.. make your own 360videos and then enjoy them using playstation vr?
IFA can't come soon enough. right now i'm leaning toward getting one of the new nexus devices, so unless sony can wow me at IFA, i may be breaking from sony for the first time in 14 years. i hope they don't disappoint cause i LOVE SONY.

New unique selling point eh...
I'm gonna go completely out of left field and say the little panel on the bottom rear of the phone opens up and reveals supplied wireless earbuds that recharge in the phone. Or maybe the back bottom opens up to add additional unique accessories?
Would be nice to have that fingerprint sensor under the screen, but if they did that you'd think they'd go with the slim side bezels. |

I think it would have to be something to do with the camera. I'd like to say VR but that belongs to PlayStation for the foreseeable future.

In a way, Z5 premium is very unique in what it does. 4k might be a gimmick, but noise cancellation, waterproof, mirror finish, stainless steel frame, camera resolution, fingerprint sensor on the side, camera shutter button. Which other company can produce phones like this?

IMO Z5P is one of the most successful product from SONY MOBILE. I hope I will have it successor soon.

Wouldn't 360 video need the lens to be convexly protruding in order to get the full angle?
@moogoo I think one or two of the early Xperias (Arc? S maybe?) were announced in Barcelona and available to purchase on the last day of the show. Not an international availability immediately (soon after) but at the show and starting in that region.
I just hope the USP isn't something gimmicky like a two batteries (both smaller) so they can accommodate a return of the glorious arc design.

I've no idea how the tech works to make a 360 video, but I do think that both front and rear cameras being able to do 4K kind of points in that direction. I could be completely wrong but why else apart from bragging rights would the phone have that ability.

4K front facing cam shouldn't have any bearing on 360 video, but logic says you can get a flat fronted camera to take 180 degrees in one direction, so, either need a convex lens front and back or cameras on the sides.
Is 4K front cam a world first? I really hope we something more useful and interesting than that.

^^ the XA Ultra already has a 16mp front facing camera. That's more than necessary for 4K video. The question is whether they can have both cameras going at once while recording 4K without the phone spontaneously combusting 
i'm also not sure how 360 cameras work, but I would imagine if the cameras were unable to do a perfect 180degrees on their own, that you could certainly rotate the phone on the Y-axis to create a 360 view and then have software to stitch it together like panorama shots. btw I'm still upset the panorama features provided in the phones were always low resolution. :|
