He was 83. Nimoy's wife, Susan Bay, confirmed her husband's death, which came after news that the beloved actor had been hospitalized earlier in the week for complications resulting from end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Nimoy revealed he was suffered from the disease in a tweet in January 2014, writing, “I quit smoking 30 years ago. Not soon enough. I have COPD.
