Ha will be funny if Sony doesn't show the Z4 at MWC or at all. So many rumours flying around, no point in expecting anything so as not to be let down, but surprised if Sony does show something now or later. |

The only big announcement at MWC will be the change to one flagship a year. Sony is also shifting it s mobile focus to sensors and batteries. |

Too much contradicting information is what i say... miku' said z4 will be announced at mwc... that info says the opposite, no press conference = no z4 mwc announcement. then what is z4 fcc sign (E6xxx) showing so early for a flag that is not even announced soon? it can't possibly be another z3 variant because "E6" indicates a new flag and it cannot be new ultra or compact as nothing indicates of such devices any time soon.

@DACHA So at MWC they will announce they won't announce any new flagship device? Regarding shift of mobile focus, does this maybe mean we're going to see a cybershot Xperia?

No, it means more focus on their profitable mobile sensor business that is flourishing. I'd be surprised at this stage if they sold off their Smartphone arm, or even merged it with another. If they can return a small profit on their mobiles they should stick it out.

the problem is managing it, a lot of big companies would out source different things than having their own department, not because it is a money issue, just that they figure those tiny profit are not worth the headache. But I do see how keeping some of the department can be beneficial, it give them first hand in new sensor tech etc instead of relying on a 3rd party on getting out their latest and greatest and if they fail them you are screwed. |

I agree.
Why go to all the bother of developing your own mobile camera sensors if you're not able to take advantage of it with your own mobile phones. Isn't this one of things Kaz wanted to change about their smartphone strategy? Keeping their best mobile tech for their own Xperia phones and selling them on to competitors further down the line?

Just a thought regarding MWC....
Last year (2014) MWC was held on the 24-27 of Feb and Sony sent out invites on the 10th of Feb** meaning invite was sent out 2 weeks before the event.
Considering this year MWC is being held 2-5 March there is still over 2 weeks for the event, thus my thinking that there is still time for Sony to send out invites this year. It is for this reason I'm thinking invites will happen early next week if they are planning an event. JM2C

We can only wait and see what happen, Sony mobile got a new boss now, according to ZOMG, that guy has a strong back ground and actually friend of Kaz that he trusted unlike the previous boss. Lets see if he can steer the division into the right direction or decide to drown it faster. Hopefully his is more visionary than the last guy see things pass Japan and think about global market. Or maybe he thinks Sony mobile is hopeless and sell it off while it still worth something.

Is this the Z4 Compact or a member of the Z4 family ? Reason I say this is the IMEI label is in the same position as the Z3 Compact and it's also a pull out label and I can't think of any current Xperia device that has the same which isn't a member of the Z Series.

 It would be a good move if a Z4 Compact was in the pipeline. It's probably the one phone they build that kicks all its competition's ass.
