I still think Sony will merge the Z5 and Z5 Premium. |

I think they will do 4K for Z6 base on the market adaption of 4K. If everyone else is doing 4K but Sony then they would look bad and outdate again. Sony manufacture their own, so they probably get them for the lowest price possible. Other manufacturers probably get their supply from Sharp next year. They really need to step up their compact now to 1080p screen. If the next design is really bezeless or near bezeless, they can up the screen size to 4.8" Full HD and still keep the size of the phone similar to the older compact.

If that's really the case, then I'll miss the larger screen of Premium... it's my main reason of preferring Z5 Premium over Z5
But in the same time, If Z5 will move to 4K later, then how they will differentiate the Premium ? as a premium it should have something good enough to be called Premium... with Z5 it's a 4K screen, larger screen ( which is subjective ) and the finish of the phone ( shiny chrome and gold )...
If both Z6 and Z6 Premium will have 4K display, then Z6 Premium must have other features exclusive to it, and I can't find anything as Z5/Z6 is premium by it self, so I'll just have a larger 5.5/5.7" screen and call it Z6 Plus

Z6 and Z6P will most likely be 2K and 4K panels. Assuming they are doing a Z6P. 4K panels from other manufactuer won't be available in the market probably until Q3 next year since Sharp said the mass production begin in mid 2016. Unless of course some other suppliers are capable of mass producing them as well. |

When every other manufacturer has a main and a slightly bigger 'plus' Sony cannot just merge Z5 with Z5 Premium.
What they should be doing is increasing size the gap slightly. Increase to 5.6" or 5.7" if the footprint is still about the same. Only reason they didn't this time was probably because the 4K panels either don't come in the right size or have too much surround to fit in a narrow frame design.

Hmmm, I guess the new Z Ultra likely won't be built at the new Sony Mobile facility... might be one of the last phones that won't be.
Glad to see Sony is investing heavily on their mobile division and can't wait to see what they've got set for next year! |

I hope the new plant will lower their QC issue % that goes out to customers |

@Gitaroo
The next main and premium should have 2k and 4k display only if they can make 4k mode for video and photo and 2k for rest with s820 good enough to handle it and hardware and software battery good enough to maintain long battery life, so they comfortably can state 2 days battery life, Else, resolution will stay and same for main and premium with only the compact changing to 1080p because there is no point in making inferior "premium" version.
@Ricky D
4.6 1080p, 5.2 1080p or 2k if they can pull 2k with 4k for video and photo for the premium, 5.7 1080p/4k or 2k with 4k.
Premium: Other then the increased display size, differentiate it with slightly more prestigious design, maintain 4k display.

I believe the new plant will be another revenue stream, manufacturing smartphones and possibly co-design for other brands in the business!
Recall that HTC built the Xperia X1 (I still want that device in prestine physical and operating system system).

Z5+ and Z5 Ultra to arrive Q1 2015.
Z6 to arrive 2H 2015.
Both potentially with SD820.

^ That Korean website also lists Sony VAIO which is quite unlikely as Sony sold the VAIO brand...
Low probably rumour rating at best.

Vaio will release a Win 10 phone in 2016. So that is correct. Guess we are seeing the Ultra successor this year. Can't wait.
