16GB and no options while others had options for 32GB & 64GB... and when the flagships every where moved to standard 32GB, 64GB and beyond.. they moved to 32GB for Z3+ and nothing else... since 2014 there has been requests here for 32GB standard for flagships, and in 2015 some started to request even more...
In 2014 16GB was standard, not 32GB. 32GB is this years standard. That's what Z3+ has. You can find more (64 or 128GB) in devices without expandable memory.
I didn't said 32GB was standard in 2014, I said there was a lot of requests for 32GB to be the standard in flagships in 2014... and now in 2015... flagships should have either 32GB minimum or 64GB as better option ( as a high-end with only one storage option, 64GB is more suited I think )
Regarding 820 overheating... I would say to wait... the only source for this rumor is @Ricciolo1, not to offend him or anyone else... but as a rumour we need more sources to have something to trust...

I'd be shocked if the 820 really overheats, I am confident Qualcomm have been working tirelessly not to have the 810 debacle again. Surely heat is number 1 on the priority list at QC.

I am withholding judgement until more news comes out. I was skeptical and blew off the reports of the 810 overheating. Hopefully this is not the case and while it would be great to have the 820 in the Z5, I am not holding my breath. |

Is it possible that this Ricciolo fella who mention '810 successor' is actually talking about a halfway house chipset (maybe and 815/818?) whilst 820 is being cleaned for very late 2015/early 2016?
It wouldn't be surprising to see that sort of chip number nor for it to be kept a secret until released.
Just a thought.. shoot it down if needs be
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

Not sure if this was posted, but another device hit the FCC
PY7-PM089x (PY7-PM0891, PY7-PM0892, PY7-PM0893)
Software version: 29.0.B.0.76
https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/ea[....]P4AtBg%3D%3D&fcc_id=PY7-PM0893
Certified 15-16th of july, whatever it is, it might be a flagship.
There are still some model numbers on the FCC which I am not sure of, anyone know which models they represent or could represent?
PY7-PM079x

One of this devices looks like 7" tablet.

Looks like Sony is testing a new UI concept. Unfortunately beta test is for Z3 users in Sweden only.

Impressive sony! impressive! almost no info leaked, not even a factory first/back panel. you outdone yourself. last year was quite different... : http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]-the-xperia-z3-and-z3-compact/
sources are literally speechless!
@red98
I guess lets say hello to z5 tablet compact (z3 tablet compact has 178,33 mm the height you mentioned), take a look: http://www.phonearena.com/pho[....]-Z3-Tablet-Compact_id8881/size calibrate your pc display if needed. |

So if tablet compact exists, shall we say goodbye to Z5 Ultra? Hope not, dont wanna go back to ios :'( |

The said document posted shows screen size as diagonal, 178.33 mm is 7 inches, so smaller than the current 8 inch tablet. There are other measurements in the document, 164.19mm and 79.5mm. I stuck these into my calculator and the diagonal measurement does not add up to the side measurements. Instead, the sides would provide a diagonal of 182.42mm. So it seems the side measurements could be the actual LCD panel size with the black screen margins?
Sony mobile phones, carry the PY7-PM label, tablets do not. Plus in the document the device is described as a smart phone.
Here are some possibilities to what we might have here.
1. This is a giant ass phone to replace the Z ultra
2. Sony has stuck a tablet into the PY7-PM category
Going back to #1, I feel this is plausible, look at the Huawei Mediapad X2
http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_mwc_2015-review-1216p2.php
It is 7 inches, granted a screen res of 1920x1200 not 1080, but if Huawei can create something like this, so can Sony. In the photos of the mediapad x2 looks a bit large in the hands but not that much larger than the ZU. That being said, if Sony can minimize the device margins to super minimum like we saw on the Lavender, then perhaps the device could be even smaller? Remains to be seen.
Unless Sony has decided to consolidate the ZU and tablet compact into one model and meet half way, 7 inches, to minimize the amount of devices? |

@ascariss
Can you link to those measurements?
if what you wrote is the case then i wish good luck to sony for selling such so called "smartphone". in this regard, all they need is a phablet flag in 5.8-6" display and a new tablet compact in 8" display. a device in between is a turn off for most if not all people because no one can carry it in pocket and people wanting a mini tablet will rather get z3 tablet compact or other mini tablet. moreover, even if they make a 7" display device will a relatively small bezel, still, no one to be able to carry it in pants pocket because its dimensions would be as z ultra once or a bit bigger. |
