^ First, thank you for the recap!

RANT: Imo nothing really overwhelming shown by Sony. An (overpriced) ZX1 successor with lovely hardware but running with old software, a crazy slim TV where I don't get the point why a TV should be that thin (any benefit? pocket-friendly?!), "4k" cams with 3840p and not ciematic 4k with 4096p and just 24p and not 50p. But I still I love you Sony.

It is not the price or android version that is bugging me on the ZX2, since the player is designed to only play music really and the price, well audiophiles will pay for it, and I doubt the device will sell in large numbers, it is a niche device after all. The biggest problem is the tech inside, it is just a rehashed ZX1, the screen is identical and I have a feeling so is the CPU, which should be the old OMAP4, this is why only android 4.2 is supported and not lollipop. I don't think there are official drivers from texas instruments for kitkat, I could be mistaken. I believe ver 4.3 is the highest for OMAP4.

I was surprised to see the ZX2 on the sony poland site, at over 5000zl, I doubt many people will buy it here.

I am puzzled why Sony has decided against releasing the rest of the XBA headphone lineup in europe and elsewhere. I will have to import them from Japan or Hong kong now.

Weak show by Sony as well, guess IFA is the better show with CES sometimes being geared towards the US market place.

Ehy you are running the walkman blog don't you?
but anyway you are right! this is just a revamped ZX1, nothing more... it's shiny and all and they are releasing it in all country... I'll just buy the NWZ-A17 as soon as I can and I'll be happy with it... Do you have more impressions on that?

It's a great player especially the 64GB version vs the 16GB which I have but I have yet to hit a limit on my storage since I haven't uploaded all my songs onto it. It's battery lasts for days and I sometimes forget to charge it and it still goes on forever. Sound quality is great, and I am hoping to pick up some better headphones soon for it, but it has a hard time driving larger headphones like my MDR-10BTs. But if I don't grab the XBA's, I may do something stupid and just grab the MDR-1ADACs, and since they have a built in DAC, the player can work with them with no problems.

Yes I run the blog.

As a current owner of the ZX1, I really do not feel I have a need to update to ZX2. I doubt anyone with a ZX1 will want to go wireless either, so the only reason for upgrade is because of the microSD expandibility? I would have thought that they will also announce something like a PHA-4 with some crazy spec that no one will ever need, then I can get myself a PHA-3 for a resonable price

Anyway, looking forward to the next announcement before MWC.

Thank you very much
as for the headphones I have the MDR-1R so I think I shouldn't have any problem

Small question regarding Sony's TV

Seeing as they're moved to Android TV, I wonder if they will update the older models to Android TV as well

I dont think they will do it but I hope as I have a 2014 model I just bought 6 months ago (60W850b to be exact)

Well after a disappointing CES it's onto MWC come the 2nd of March which runs until the 5th. It is only 8 weeks away and as like everyone else I'm very eager to see what Sony has hidden up its sleeve for us. I think it's a given we'll see the Z4 and possibly a new tablet to go along with the E4 which has been leaked and reviewed well ahead of release.
So just a re-cap of the rumored spec sheet for the Z4

Xperia Z4
5.2" full HD, Triluminos display with X-Reality for mobile
Qualcomm SD810 SoC
4GB of RAM
32GB internal storage + Micro SD slot
Front facing stereo speakers
S-Master HX digital amp
IP68 certified
21MP rear camera (possibly IMX230)
5MP selfie camera
3000+ mAh battery with QI wireless charging (possible case needed like Z3)
Android 5.0 Lollipop

Would anyone be disappointed with that spec sheet? the only thing missing for me is an IR blaster, and considering most people are tied into 24m plans those early adopters of the original Xperia Z will get one hell of an upgrade that's for sure.
I'm so happy 'cause today
I've found my friends ...

@XperiaJunkie
That is a very good competitive base spec that with a few more surprises/improvements will carry sony for a whole year until its successor and buyers for a good few years. the disappointed things as far as i'm concerned would be:
1. not having 5.5" display. for me it would be a sweet spot between size and comfort for main flag.
2. if sony decide on 5.5" then not going for 2k display. i appreciate subtle changes IF not causing the device to overheat, it's more future proof, plus, i think it would be bad for sony's marketing as a flag that suppose to carry them for a whole year. with that said, not a deal breaker of course.
3. no built in wireless charging. either that or not at all.
4. no ip68 usb port. it's about time.
5. having "cracked glass for no reason". i would like sony to replace glass with metal for a change or more resistive material whatever it will be.
6. no revamp in xperia 5.0 version.
7. no improvements in camera quality.
