I'm sure 99% of the people doing this job are just using google maps and waze, which is fine, they work well. But I really like having a dedicated GPS device - in particular, I like the way Garmin displays information more than I like google maps/waze. And I'd like to be able to use my phone for stuff without switching away from navigation, so two devices sounds good to me.
