"Chinese technology firm Huawei reported its strongest profit growth in four years on Monday, led by strong demand for its smartphones. Besides producing handsets, the company is also known for networking equipment.Huawei is now the second largest network equipment provider and third largest smartphone manufacturer on the planet.

The company's latest earnings report got a boost from Chinese carriers who are now switching over to 4G LTE networks. Huawei is missing out in the U.S., where it is not allowed to sell its telecom equipment due to fears that the company's pipelines are being used as a conduit for espionage by the Chinese government. For the all of 2013, Huawei reported net profit of 21 billion Yuan ($3.38 billion USD). That was a gain of 34.4% from the 2012 numbers. Profit margins rose for the second consecutive year.

Revenue amounted to 238 billion Yuan ($38.3 billion USD) and Huawei says it expects revenues to rise 10% this fiscal year. In addition, the company says that by 2018, it expects to report revenue of 435 billion Yuan ($70 billion USD)."

Indeed!

Very interesting that they've managed all this despite being pretty much rejected by the US Market, it shows that a company can be very successful even without being big in the US Market.

I've been saying for a long time that people must keep an eye out for Huawei and even ZTE, I'm seeing more and more Huawei smartphones down here in SA, apparently they are quite big in Kenya to, they are taking over many emerging markets and at the same time also making great top end devices for both emerging and developed markets.

Sure they can be succesful without the US, ever realised how big their home market is? I'd hardly call them an underdog.

Bravo Huawei, I have the Ascend Y300 and I can say I've had no problems yet. Even the camera is impressive for the price and the build quality isn't bad either. They can only improve their EmotionUI because I don't really like it.
And because of that UI the phone is a bit sluggish. With a custom ROM it's really fast and stable.

Their P2 & P6 handsets were pretty popular both with good cameras aswell. And Huawei make so many handsets under carrier branding too which tend to sell well. The Chinese are coming up Apple's backside
