WOW That is amazing And so many predicted it to be less successful then its predecessors
Haha! Indeed many haters wanted to believe it wouldn't be successful, thats now the 5th Galaxy S model that has gone unchallanged now, how much longer will Android manufacturers allow this? How much more sales and profit are they going to allow Samsung rake up!? Thankfully the LG and the Chinese makers (Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi etc...) are starting to do the job that Htc, Sony, and Motorola have failed so badly at doing.

Very true. A part of me is so bored now, it's like watching F1 when Schumacher was with Ferrari, each year you knew who was going to take the championship, gets kinda old over time, I wish an OEM could at the very least try challenge Samsung. In the days of the GS1 and GS2, Samsung were challenged and it forced them to make leaps over the competition. I hope S5 Prime and Note 4 crush the "competition" in not just sales, popularity and function but also in design and innovation.

Excellent result for Samsung, not bad for a company's 1st go at their own mobile sensor, that is if it is their 1st try at a mobile sensor, correct me if I'm wrong, I never did bother to check who's sensor the Pixon12, OmniaHD, Innov8, G810 and G800 used.

Be interesting to see what Samsung come up with in the design of a metal premium phone. Remember the days of the Wave 1,2 & 3 they all had good designs with amazing solid metal build quality. I had the Wave 2 is was solid. But lets hope Samsung doesn't just come out with same design as the GS5 but with a metal back plate

If it keeps the GS5 name then it will have to look a lot like the current GS5 with minor (if ANY) changes. I personally believe the GS5 Prime is going to be released in very limited numbers like the GS4 LTE-A and GS2 LTE HD, and won't make it to USA, most of Europe, Asia or Africa, it is mainly being made to battle the LG G3 in South Korea. The next major Samsung flagship is the Note 4, expectations for GS5 Prime must be lowered, IMO, I could be wrong, but I doubt I am, it just doesn't make sense for Samsung to launch the GS5 Prime as widely as the OG GS5.

Considering that LG G3 will be released globally it doesn't make much sense to release its competitor in only one, no matter how crucial, market. That is why I expect GS5 Prime or whatever it'll be called to be released as very premium device, true king of all phones with premium price and limited availability. It won't be the king of sales but it'll be marketed as the best device you can get right now. Something like nokia 8800.
That is what I think GS5 Prime will be. |

Then why haven't we seen multiple variants of this "GS5 Prime"? There seems to be the South Korean variant which is the one in all the leaks and that's it. The GS5 Prime makes no sense to me UNLESS it uses a whole new name e.g. Galaxy Prime so as not to piss off existing Galaxy S5 customers, that would be understandable, but if it arrives as a GS5 variant I'm betting on it having a limited release, it will be like the GS4 LTE-A.
I wish they would just announce it already, kill all this speculation.

Why is Samsung releasing an Active S5 when the S5 is already water resistant?? I wonder if it'll be fully water proof and more rugged??
