Yep... dont understand its location. It is very very bad when walking around in a windy day... i guess it cannot be that bad if the micrpphone were next to the battery charger connector... |

I think that there are 2 microphone holes. One next to the data connector and one on the back ... I ran Service Test/Microphone and scrach with finger on the back hole - it sound a strong schraching noise, than scrached the most left hole - just next to the data connector and I heard the same noise.
But I agree that when windy it's quite hard to talk ... |

Well if you don't need a color screen, BlueT, and IR that's your phone ... In fact I think that t65 has a better look than t68 ... but that's only my opinion |

If you look at the price/quality/feature ratio T65 is the best mobile out there.
I had always thought that the most left hole near the connectors is the microphone. I hadn't even noticed that there was a hole in the back of the phone. Why would there be double microphones? T65 doesn't even have a "table handsfree" like Panasonic. If that hole next to the torx screw is actually a microphone... what is doing there? |

I think there are no double microphones. If you look at it, the area near the conector that seem to be a microphone is just next to the misterious hole in the back.. i think theres just one in the hole |

I don't know if the T65 has 2 micophones but it could have.
All the "newer" Ericsson phones with a flip cover (T28 and newer) has 2 microphones. One on each side of the flip.
According to a developer I know at Ericsson the 2 microphones are used for noise canceling. It works something like this:
Sounds that are pickud up by both mic's are "thrown away" and sounds that are pickud up by the microphone on the inside of the flip (the side you talk to) are used.
This could work in a similar way on the T65. The R520 also seems to have 2 microphones.
According to the developer the 2 microphones has big advantages in noise environments, but it has one drawback and thats when you are talking in windy wheather. |

Any other suggestions? This is a mystery... there's nothing about the hole in the manual, nothing mentioned on the SE website. What is it? |

I tried the microphone test, too, and the hole on the back really seems to be a mic. Strange that there's nothing mentioned in the phone's specs about this "double" microphone technology. Does T68 have a hole in it's back cover? Well, the battery is different in that model but the strange hole could be found from the upper part of the phone... |
