Difference in brightness isn't the issue, it's how the brightness is generated and what optimisation technologies are in place e.g. WhiteMagic.
Things like HW or SW video and audio decoding make a huge difference too as does general environment optimisations, whether or not the device is within it's first boot (and therefore caching a lot in the background), screen type, battery type and capacity amongst other variables.
As HxH was alluding to, to do a true test you need a test bench with all components, hw and sw, common except the screen. Then you should get a true result as to the power consumption comparison.

It looks like sony is not even trying with the h2 flagship. Samsung is lowering their estimates on sales due to iP6, I guess sony have just decided to sit it out, in the regular "nah, screw it" fashion. When you command less than 2% of the market, it's actually not such a bad move.  |
