Hopefully the ZU successor will be more functional and practical. Did Zomg mention any specs of the new ZU? |

Aside from the possibility of running the Snapdragon 805, no.
I think its fair to assume that the rest will be predictable. 6+inch FHD (Maybe WQXGA) IPS display with TriLuminos tech and X-reality Mobile. 8-13 MPx camera (May include LED flash), 3000+mAh battery, 2+GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Hopefully it comes pre-loaded with 4.4; anything less would be an absolute disgrace. IP58 water and dust-proofing.
In other words, the usual. |

@XYZ
your spec is too depressing. sony would go out of business.
my next z ultra reaslitic improvements prediction or should have spec if they want to succeed with this device (some copy paste from my 1H flagship prediction):
(JDI 5.9" FHD LTPS IPS LCD/JDI 6.2" 2K LTPS IPS LCD with narrow bezel)+triluminos+whitemagic+pixeleyes.
s805
3GB ram
32GB as standard
same camera as 1H flagship
dual LED, 4K ready
3500mAh
a bit smaller dimensions
exposed mini usb port (like the core has)
should have gloves mode and no shatter film
at least 4.4 kitkat
new software features like up to 4 different windows of ANY program open at the same time - sony is criticized for not taking advantage of the big beautiful display.
announcement: special sony event in June (as in 2013).

I think yes Ricky D
I really love this device, and everything inside it but as the Z1 the bezel are just huge, yes I know to be handable and this stuff, but really they are huge |

It makes a BIG statement, though.

@Amir
The specs I suggested, represent a minimum. They're more than likely going to be better, but not by a whole lot.
Besides, I think the spec-wars have dwindled a little these days. Nowadays its all about Unique Selling Points. Performance has increased to a level, where we may start seeing diminishing returns.
Also, a WQXGA display, on anything smaller than 6-inches, is a waste of battery. In a world where battery technology appears to have stagnated, its a waste of time. |

i understand what you are saying, but all the spec i listed exist or on the market. both display panels i listed are on japan display website, you can go there and see. the spec i listed suits 2H 2014 phablet device very nicely. not more, not less. i also listed a software feature.

@ascariss
The Z1-C is the successor of ZR (C550x) and D530x would be the successor of SP. I am somewhat interested about D530x, because in Antutu bench, it gets 30000 points. Would be nice something like this:
-4.6" IPS Display, HD resolution
-S600 (APQ8064AB)
-2GB of RAM and 16GB of Int. Memory, MicroSD Slot
-13 MPX camera and Exmor RS sensor , LED Flash
-2300mAh battery
-Android 4.3
-(No Waterproof)
-Cheaper than ZR
EDIT: I have found another score of D5303 in Antutu and It got 19500 points......
About Z1-C without LTE... I would buy it ,Look , even Z1 has a C6902 variant

I had a good play with one in my local Three Store about an hour ago and I couldn't see a problem with the size of the phone at all. I was absolutely blown away with the screen quality though. I'm wondering how the screen could possibly be improved on any successor because screens can't get much better than that.

I love the Z Ultra's size. I have huge hands, and from what I could tell from playing with it at the Sony store for a few minutes, it's quite comfortable for me. |

Nope, I love it. I actually hope that for the successor, they keep the overall size the same and increase the screen size a hair. |

I've had my Z ultra for nearly 2 months and I'm loving it. It's not 100% functional for me one handed, but I make do with it. It should be far better once I get a case.
My hope for the successor is the following:
- same camera as the 2014 flagship
- larger battery - 3500-4000 mAH. I can go 2-3 days without charging because I am a mostly light user, but whenever I do heavy usage with full brightness, the battery level does drain pretty quickly. LTE also is murder on battery life.
- better speakers... still a disappointment when I want to listen to something with friends and we can barely hear it in a fairly loud room
-wireless charging... wasn't there a rumor that Sony would be using wireless charging in 2H 2014?
