judging from hands on videos and the fact that it is glass on both sides, it's gonna attract plenty of finger prints and skin oils. probably same as Z though i have no experience with either. don't know if there is any "safe" coating unless you mean a screen protector type thing, which is always an option.

i've also seen some flip open type cases for the Z1 being thrown about though whether they were made for the Z1 or if they're just universal crap, i don't know. whether it can be used with the DK31 is also not something that can be answered until someone can get one. I read somehwere that it does come with inserts for using the dock with and without a case, but i doubt they have inserts for every possible case you could get.

@luwi - that offer is amazing. if it were the C6906 model i'd be ALL over it. but unfortunately it's not. that offer is making me really think about switching to tmobile though. the watch and content alone bring the cost of the Z1 down to only around $400 USD.. that's AMAZING for a brand new and amazing device..

same bands the only is difference is that C6903 support High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) H.265 and C6943 doesn't
so it must be market related from what I can guess

I do hope they don't. If they do, I'd say just cancel your order and buy from Clove. Heck, just cancel it and buy from Clove anyway, you'll get a free SmartWatch 2.

I really REALLY like this phone and the accessories that I'm ready to out my money where my miuth is end of September and most like 8.5/10 I'll be purchasing this.

After reading 30 pages on my mobile the following is becoming annoying and ridiculous to argue about.

OIS - what the hell is this? Some guy 20 pages back posted 1 liners about this and I keep thinking he's typing iOS wrong. I almost quoted him with a gif picture of a face palm but figure I must be missing something here.

Picture quality out the wazoo. Jesus, this phone is not available at retail to purchase for ANYONE here to rest production firmware with production camera app algorithms to compare or complain about! Instead there are so many armchair professionals about picture quality about this and other phones, that they link other sites testing prototypes or pre production models' picture samples by other testers on other, even non reputable sites arguing about quality. Has ANY of these proported links from these armchair pros actually have conclusive data about the firmware or build date of the phone, direct link to Sony about such details or even who has taken the sample photos and if said person knows how to use the phone?! For FRAK's sake kids get a grip, stop judging something before actually having it yourselves and experiencing it yourselves off production, please!
(this excuses Razec, randomizer, and bonovox, maybe a small select others that don't do this cap and if they have its to show inequality or to refute testimony of the armchair pros - from what I've read in this thread thus far)

This is becoming too much on Esato, lately and the more this continues the worse it is for Sony to sell such products. The first 30days is THE most crucial for a consumer product that if fans without a full production until discount it, post about that, is easily searchable for those seeking out information for research or comparison even by the large blogs which if nobody has noticed has a direct and strong impact of influence on smartphone sales.

Something to consider.

@Supa_fly .. relax man. people will always criticize. Don't let it get to ya.

OIS = Optical image Stabilization. It's a feature that other flagship smartphones manufacturers advertise their camera to have. Sony has only stated that it uses its own SteadyShot tech.

According to Sony, SteadyShot is a type of HARDWARE image stabilization. Though, it's unclear which type Sony uses in the Z1 (there are a few types sony uses on its cameras). In other words, Sony essentially offers OIS, but brands it as SteadyShot. Bottomline, it is NOT pure software image stabilization. It's just that all these "armchair critics" as you call them (i like that term) don't see the buzz words "OIS" and they have a hissy fit. The video/photo samples speak for themselves. Camera blur and Video smoothness is evident and, in my humble opinion, make other smartphone cameras look like they have no OIS at all.

@mcKinley - MNX just linked you to the phone. Contract will be with Tmobile, which is a simple process of ordering a plan and then giving your information so they can port your number and send you a sim card. LTE coverage does not seem as widespread here as AT&Ts but Tmobile just started to upgrade, so in a few years, I'm sure it will get better. At $70/month, it's $15/month cheaper than AT&T and it's Unlimited data with no throttling (I've checked many sources and talked to many people). If there is no LTE, you can still fall back on HSPA+.

Ordering from Clove seems to be a great deal because of the smartwatch offer, which itself is $150 to order. Currently, Clove sells Z1 at US equivalent price of $730 USD, which is what Negri had listed before and seems like the expected retail price once it does hit the states (probably will go for $699). With the $150 offset, you're lookin at $580. The content offer is global and not exclusive to Clove, even though no one really advertises it. But if you take that into consideration, it's about another $100 worth of content, bringing the phone price down to Z1. Now considering that I was ready to take the plunge and pay the full price of $730 for it, it seems like a given to get it now since there's a smartwatch thrown in too.

It's actually sitting in my Clove shopping cart right now. It will cost about $25USD to ship it. Got my credit card handy.. just.. have.. to.. do it.

@gitaroo - no one knows for sure.

i hope we can implement "post IDs" here so it can be easier to make references to certain posts you are replying to without having to quote them, especially if they have larges images.

@moogoo
For some reason I couldn't press buy.
It just reloaded the page, so all I did was to get a notification mail about its availability.
I will be buying the Xperia Z1 as soon as it becomes available, unless I am doing a mistake when clicking on the buy button.

Now it worked

@mckinley - you took the plunge!? which color buddy?

sigh.. sadness.

so i just double checked and my AT&T contract doesn't end until Oct. 16th!!

I am forced to wait no matter what. No point in ordering a Z1 now if it'll just sit there collecting dust until I can switch to tmobile.. sigh..

now i'm depressed
