Lol @ phonearena

They can never ever post an article without making fun of Sony - " First, and probably most important – while we definitely get the idea that what consumers perceive as the best matters most at the end of the day (for a business entity, such as Sony), we nevertheless have to point out that the multitude of considerations that go into defining a really good image are, for the most part, lost on your typical consumer. Moreover, a survey with a sample of just 209 participants, qualitative as it may be, will (and should) be taken with a pinch of salt."

The reason why I considered buying F-01F because I'm buying the same phone with my friend. He used to own a SH-12C and it was lagging quite badly. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Fujitsu phones are still manufactured in Japan which promises better quality control rather than Sony outsourcing their manufacturing to Chinese firms. The SO-01F have already sold me with the design and specs but it's worth looking at the design of the upcoming F-01F.

On other news, looks like Docomo's fall/winter collection will be out in October.

Ummm... I am careful with the "made in Japan" (except for Fujifilm). They may make the phones and the flaps in China, and then plug the flaps in Japan, and it magically becomes made in Japan. Where is F-01F snapdragon 800 made? Would be interesting to get the actual story.

It is true that Sony has been perceived as a lesser quality when they moved many products (in particular vaio) in China. But nowadays, it may make less difference as if a Japanese company wants to ensure high quality insurance in China, they can with local staff including Japanese staff. Not sure in the case of outsourcing.

I think that Fujitsu software may be less optimised than Sony, because they come from the Tegra world to snapdragon. But they will surely cram very tempting specs, let's wait and see. I would love them to use Fujinon lens and Fujifilm sensor, like the nexus was said to use nikon camera. (I know that Fujifilm and Fujitsu are different companies, just day dreaming).

Re the link you sent, I think they are making suppositions re the october launch of Z1, based on last year docomo collection. I made the same assumptions a few hundred pages back. It is also said iphone launch in September. It would mean that iphone launches first before Z1 and others from the collection. Not good. But not a big game changer as people know that it is coming now so whichever launch firsts if they want an iphone they will get one.

I really hope Sony has prepared a MASSIVE marketing campaign to fight against the iphone.

If Docomo manages to release the fall winter collection with the iPhone 5S, it should give a good standing for their NXT lineup. Unless Apple went the extra mile to ensure an earlier release date for docomo, which today's keynote would be a revelation. ・_・

Looks like Negri has white and purple up for pre-order too. Bad news is, they jacked the price up for the Z1 from $729.95 to $784.50. Seems like the C6943 is a typo on their, they're actually selling the C6903.

ouch.. wonder why negri increased their price? especially since they are selling the same model as clove, they should be aware of the new promo and trying to compete!

i kinda wish dp review had done more than just a quick sample gallery. a more detailed analysis and a comparison with the 1020 or G2/S4/One

Hmmm, those photos from Dpreview look really good. Even the 20 mp pics look rather clean and sharp. If my eyes doesnt fool me i'm impressed. Wonder if its different firmware from previous photos we've seen.

dpreview shots look great. If this is pre release firmware, can't wait for the images on final firmware.

What I'm interested to see is the showdown between S4 Zoom and Z1. equal size sensor, It'll give us an idea how superior/inferior Sony's sensor/lens/ISP tech is

I still remember when 5mp 1/2.5" sensors on iMobile 902, LG KG920 and N95 are hype (2007~), would be interesting to see how much has improved over these years

I actually don't want to see anymore or debate which has the better camera between all these handsets, I've seen enough to convince me that the Z1 is a superb all round device, the camera might be better or at least equal to the other top smartphones and BTW I'm not including the S4 or HTC1 they don't cut it - this device is just all round superb, weird thing is from what I've seen so far is that the Z1 camera should be compared to compact camera's and not smartphones - Just my opinion

Nothing special really.. standard 1.4 micron performance.

"standard 1.4 micron performance" that just made me laugh..

especially when you crop areas that are clearly out of focus..

Why did you pick areas which are not in focus? At least the area in the lowest photo that you picked is not in focus. Im sure we can find imperfections in full size 808 pv shots as well if thats what you look for. No one said it is perfect but to me anyway it looks better than an average 1.4 micron performance.

I feel another crop is coming soon...

It's not out of focus, it's blurred out by Sony post-processing algorithm to hide sensor "imperfections". -.-

come on.. depth of focus people. at F2.0, depth of focus is pretty short. in the 1st photo, the focus is clearly not on the trees in the background so obviously they will be blurred. in the 2nd photos, the focus is clearly not on the concrete pillars in the far right (which was cropped). again, obviously they will be blurred.

these "troll" like comments are starting to get ridiculous. is it perfect in every way? no, but cropping out unfocused areas of a picture and claiming it to be "standard performance" is pretty outlandish.
