McKinley - well mine isn't branded so i don't see why that what Tmobile is doing would matter. PCC should see that and gimme the generic UK update when it is available. but for some reason the generic UK update takes a long ass time to be pushed out.

Some full res images taken by the Z1 running 4.4.2 are up on Xperia Blog. Any of the pixel peepers out there care to let us know if the images look better than before the update http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]res-camera-samples/#more-22701

From initial observations, the photos are better, especially in 20MP, less noise, cleaner noise if there is some, sharper photos. Don't see the random softness issue anymore in the 20MP photo.

superior auto are also better, but I'll be able to compare better with my own photos since I know how they looked like before.

But overall major improvement, I feel it is almost at the level of a point and shot, almost.

surprise that the file size didn't change like Z2. but noise has been significantly reduced but still looks like there are some camera focus problem.

they're still trying to hold back on the file size.
also, curiously, the same flower shot by the same camera has different colors in different shots. the camera struggles with bright reds.

Updating through SEUS, India. The update is 1021.1 mb.

PC companion server seems down today as it's unable to connect to check for update. I also checked for update last night on both pcc and seus and there was no update.

All good after the update as of now...

No improvement in camera algorithm... Still lots of artifacts at 100% resolution...

Sadly then I was right about the camera algorithm, typically Sony really, obviously just want the new processing just for the Z2. It will stop people buying Sony because people spend a lot of money and then Sony abandon them.

heh..

oh no.. a company that wants to keep it's new tech/features for its NEW, yet to be released device..

what a horrible company. any real company would take all the new features of their new devices and port it to their older ones right away!

Really? Why do I own a tablet z, Sony TV, ps3 and that then? I was gonna get the Z2 but I thought if the Z1 gets the same processing in the camera as the Z2 then I'd consider getting it as you can pick them up quite cheaply now.

You miss my point! I didn't expect then to port 4k or timeshift video or tap to wake but I did expect them to port the camera algorithm.

the point is there is improvement in the camera quality. Which has already defeat the whole point of your post. Those tiny "cross" processing artifacts are almost entirely gone now in 20 MP full res shots.
