If the algorithm isn't changed, then there will be no point in updating to kitkat a it will bring no benefits for me.

I would make sense Sony working on the same algorithms for the Z1, Z1c and Z2 as they have exactly the same camera hardware just so they don't have to double the R&D that goes into it

^Maybe in some future updates. I just read a changelog from a guy who got 4.4.2 on his Z1 Compact and he said 4k and double tap to wake are missing. I doubt that Z1 update will be different.

To be honest I was a little surprised when he said they were included. Maybe the Z1c didn't get 4K could be a potential playback issue with the screen only being 720p but chances are that isn't the case and Sony want to keep it exclusive for the Z2 for the time being at least.

Well considering the Z2 with the 4k, tap to wake, etc is not out yet, would be stupid to provide such things to the Z1, people wouldn't have any reason to buy the Z2, assuming they checked into this, which most consumers do not

But regardless, once the Z2 arrives and is on sale with people receiving units, the Z1 will probably get the rest of the features, maybe not a week later, but perhaps 1-2months later.

I did from PCC, C6906 unbranded from Canada. Downloading atm.

Edit: Yeah I don't expect 4k and other features to be available for z1, before Z2 is event out. Sony did say that Z2 will be their first device to receive 4K recording. Just hope it can come to Z1 as an camera add on update.

I feel you moogoo and I blame T-Mobile for taking their time to get their bloatware fully operational with the new firmware. I had to wait close to two months after the Kitkat update was "globally" available.
