So what does everyone think of the Z2?
Will you be selling your Z1 to get the Z2?
Are you happy to stay with the Z1?
And is this thread now going to go the way of the dodo?

As I still have 14 months on my current contract to run I don't think I will be getting the Z2 but more likely the Z4 or Z5.

^ To be honest I dont see the Z2 as a new flagship more as a Z1 refresh with a slight bump in spec and I would expect the Z1 to recieve all the features of the Z2 with the 4.4.2 update due shortly. Overall every day performance between the two will be marginal at best. I will wait to see what the bring at IFA in August as the true replacement for the Z1 as it will probably use Qualcomm's new 64 bit CPU and a 2K screen (which personally is overkill) but that is the nature of the development of the smartphone.

I don't think anyone who owns a Z1 will upgrade to the Z2 unless they have money to burn. I see this as a phone for people who have an Xperia Arc S, Xperia S or T or even a Z and are at the end of their contract and just want the latest Xperia to show off to their friends.

New firmware just certified for the Z1 the C6903 variant with firmware version 14.2.A.1.144 most likley to be bug fixes again rather than KitKit 4.4.2.

Good news that there's a new firmware certified, let's hope it makes it's way to my UK sim free model that's still on .290 mind you my phone's running great so I can't complain

And for me I'll be keeping my Z1 for quite a while yet so no Z2 for me. For me I don't feel it's that much of a step up from the Z1 so I'm just going to sit back and chill for a bit with my Z1

Finally, he confirmed that the 4.4 updates for the Z-series are progressing well, initial beta testing is set to commence soon. The SP, T, TX, V and TL will get 4.4 about 4-6 weeks later on the current timetable, then after that it will be the L, M/Dual, T2 Ultra, M2, E1/Dual, but there is no timeframe for these devices yet.

Guy I found out something about the rear camera flash giving a hazy effect. I believe most of you guys had already applied a screen protector onto the rear panel. If you removed the real panel, I believe your photo will turn out a lot better, although there's still very little white hazy effect at the right of the picture.

@tai - it's true. additional screen protectors can create the flash bleed. to be honest, i've never had a flash bleed problem.. :|

Guys, how about the Z1 flaps? i see constant people complaining about it here in brazil. They close the flaps and proceed like the manual says but aperently for some, water still enter the phone and warranty is gone.
My question is; do those flaps become some how a little bit loose from time to time since youre open it everytime for charging ?

In this matter I keep wandering why they didn't go for wireless charging. It's so much easier as magnetic.

i use my flaps all the time and they do seem "looser" than when I first got it, but i also dunk it in water all the time too and it's fine.

i'm really looking forward seeing what, if any, Z2 features will be ported to the Z1. I'm sure it'll be some time yet so sony can boost sales of the Z2, but eventually, I hope to see some ported just like Z1 camera apps being ported to other phones in the xperia line.

i really really doubt they'll put 4k video or any other features in the z1.... i would be glad if they could enhance the camera superior auto , that would be more plausible.

i don't think they'll add the 4K.. but the other camera apps like the timeshift might make it to the Z1. I think the Z1 hardware is definitely capable of doing 4K video recording, so while I don't think they will, it's definitely a possibility.

won't know until at least 4-5 months after Z2's been on the market though. so we'll see sometime in the summer.
