Well, after all the ups and downs with the rumors, I'm getting this phone. Even with the few small remaining problems, Z1 has incorporated more than enough improvements, both incremental and novel, to warrant replacing an old phone, maybe even a previous generation phone if you find yourself eager enough.

I find it funny tho, how people are denouncing the results of that side-by-side photo comparison, saying that it was posted to Sony's webpage, therefore it must be wrong.... Read: Independently tested (as was said earlier) with automated settings on each phone (auto should be the most versatile and best setting based on the manufacturers software prowess, eh?), and with those parameters Sony came out far ahead based on a demographically representative consumer group.

There's definitely some sneaky manipulation that place Sony at the top of certain graphs/charts, like declaring the 1020 and 808 ineligible for some megapixel spec comparisons based on their thickness, but even so, it beat the 1020 where it actually counted - the pictures.

I just wanna hear some sort of rebuttal from those who said "1020 will be better in low light due to bigger sensor".... it wasn't. Granted the 1020's xenon will blow the Z1's LED out of the water, but I happen to recall them talking up some big game on no-flash performance, where are you now?

WELL SAID!

(I couldn't tell if GS4 doll at dark pic was actually a picture, or SA forgot to put in their actual shots lol)

We should make the above quote the standard reply to all those skeptics and naysayers who keep coming back.

But, Trolls are different menace because they are either
a)paid guerrillas, or
b)secluded, religious (to the brand) or ignorant people suffering from 'willful blindness' or
c)have personality disorder and actually enjoy being argumentative, abrasive and pedantic despite their personal knowledge or belief

Now, despite the independent testing conducted by Strategy Analytics (SA), it is meaningless to them if they don't know who SA are and what their services mean, or too dumb to understand the meanings of what they publish (group b).
Money is always a motivator, and for that reason group A will always be around, and lets hope there aren't that many group C patients out there, for the sake of humanity.

Yes, Sony was the paying client, and it is published on their website, but please understand there is nothing negative about that. It is only natural for the product's USP to be bragged about, so in that sense it is biased. But if one would insist on nitpicking on paid and biased information, then you belong to group C.

If you doubt or have issues with SA published results, take it up with them.

what do you expect reeflotz? people like to complain. doesn't matter how perfect a device is, there is always something wrong with it.

steadyshot is on the Z1 but apparently it's only for video according to the official spec sheet. though who knows if that's even correct. there are always mistakes throughout.

i will be ordering a Z1 as soon as it hits an american retailer.. in WHITE.. i'm assuming it WON'T come with magnetic dock, so I'll probably be ordering that as well.

Let me know where you order it from because I will be doing the same as well.
Been having tripple digit temperatures now for a good while and it would be nice to have a phone able to withstand water.

I'm gald I don't have to bother with whatever headphones that come in the package.
I got BOSE QC 20i, which I btw strongly recommend if you care for great sound quality with deep bass AND insanely good noise cancelling.
The only niggle would be that you got buttons that only work for iPhones.

@McKinley sure.. are you in the states? I'll probably wait til it's available from amazon or newegg, since they usually have the best price and are easy to deal with. hopefully they'll list the Z1 up in the next week or so if it really is gonna launch globally by the end of the month, US included.

@supercoolman - that's just a regular microUSB car charger. it's nothing special specifically for Z1. they just put Z1 in the name to make it pop up with everyone searching for it. just a marketing gimmick

i can't understand him, but this hands on shows burst mode and AR mode in action!

From my point of view, Z1 looks ok, but nothing groundbraking at all. Looks: great, but just like another sony smartphone, bezel is too huge for a high end phone. Pewrformance wise it will obviously be a monster. Camera shots in daylight conditions are full of digital post processing even at ISO 50, which is not a good thing at all. In worse lighting conditions they look great. Looks like sony needs a real imaging chip, not just another software substitute. Would prefere a less compromised model, much more focused on imaging capablities instead of trying to squeeze everything into those tiny dimensions.

I've seen 2x versions of box contents - one without any type of earphone and another with the cheapest of cheap, it's one of those things that is a hard one to nail down, both my last two phones from Sony (Z and Z Ultra) had headsets in the box - the Z were cheap and nasty - the ZU were reasonably good but on both I prefer to use my own set, so unless they are going to include a very very good set in the box I think most people will have their own that they will continue to use.

@Marcink,Sony is using BIONZ image chip which they use in top digital cameras. Also uses f1.8 aperture the brightest lens so far of any smartphone. G lens is also excellent. So where are these images with loads of noise?? It hasn't even been released yet.
