If anyone's interested I have prised open the mike/switch unit on the players headphone cord, and soldered in a full size set of headphones.
The sound quality is excellent and the unit is much louder, you must leave enough slack to get it over your head, or use those individual clip, full size units. No problems so far, have been cycling with it at full volume and nothings gone pop yet. The unit just clips apart and the little circuit board clips out, nice easy to access solder points are easliy visible. All handsfree functions still work, just make sure you have the wire twisted correctly so the mike points towards your mouth.
I guess it would be possible to put an inline 3.5mm jack on the lead as well (after the mike unit), so any headphone /amp could be used, but the cable length would interfere with the mike positioning. |
