I found this article showing what Windows phone 8.1(Windows phone Blue) might look like which is set to arrive in 2014. It certainly looks alot better but will Microsoft really do all this?? Who knows??

Windows Phone is improving rapidly, over the last month Vine, Barclays, Lloyds TSB, Flipboard, Hipstatic and others have committed to making an app for WP8 and over the last two days it's been announced that Instagram are jumping on the bandwagon too.
More and more people are switching to WP now and Whatsapp is finally awesome! it's had 10 updates over the last 4-6 weeks. |

Now that certainly does look good, I hope that Microsoft bring out 8.1 sooner rather than later and that Windows phone blue is something like this, wp8 is slowly catching up but ms do need to pull their finger out and sort it.
