^ is this really a photo taken with 1020? It's really bad, I find it hard to believe that 1020 is that bad compared to 808.

You’re wrong about the colors fidelity, they’re dull with pinky red. Always. That’s the big problem of 808.

@admad:

It's possible to take good and bad pictures with any device, even a DSLR, depending on the skills of the person behind the camera. When people start searching the internet for pictures to prove their point, they'll easily find them, whatever their point might be.
For every photo the naysayers here find to prove, that the 1020 takes bad pictures, someone less biased could find an excellent 1020 picture, it all depends, on what they're looking for.

Just seen a sample shot of the upcoming Sony 20.66 mp camera with BIONZ processor for images and Sony G lens and Cyber Shot branding. For once after a long time it looked good. I think it could give the 1020 a run for it's money

He graduated in photography ? Works with photography ?
Answer to all questions: No !

So do not comment about something you do not understand !

The only device respected by professional photographers from around the world called Nokia 808 "True Pureview" !

I agree with you Bonovox !

I also found a very good image quality Xperia i1 !

From what has been shown (images) and photographic hardware that will be integrated, my guess is that the Xperia i1 delivered images with a higher quality than in 1020 !

Marly...
1020 is a good cameraphone and it is undeniable !

But what you and others need to understand that is not always new, represents innovation and evolution !

And this is the case 1020 with respect to 808 !

1020 is the best camera phone market after the 808 !

What is the problem ?

What is surprising about that ?

808 "True Pureview" the image sensor is larger, more powerful flash, the more pixels per integrated microns and more dpi ... And so it is and will remain the best cameraphone in the world !

I think it's probably not Nokia's fault that the 1020 doesn't deliver outstanding IQ. It could also be due to the limitation of WP8 OS, they might not have been able to optimize the image processing on WP8 platform anywhere near as good as they managed to do on Symbian.

Android is also quite similar and hence Sony had to rework a lot of basic Android code to optimize the image processing for the i1.

Yeah I'm not talking about photo quality from artistic point of view, I'm talking about pure quality, how good the phone handles landscapes, I think that 808 is the only phone so far that when you zoom on landscape shot you can actually see leafs on the trees, and they are sharp! But on 1020 they are more like a mixture of something green and camera noise. Not really pleasant view.

That is supposed to be coming in GDR3 or Windows Blue OS updates so i read. Support for better hardware and improved software algorithms. Nokia Amber update is supposed to improve image quality too.

Even if they fix software.

The sensor is smaller
The lens is not as good

Hopefully with the next cameraphone they won't mess up.
