I just bought a brand new laptop and tried to use my T68 as a modem....but no chance...it doesn.t work! I installed the drivers you can get at the page and I tried the drivers at http://www.telesupport.se/
with no success. At the moment I'm running on W2k on my laptop and the IRDA drivers for the laptop are ok. When I try to set up a new modem everything goes well till you have to choose on which port you will use your modem...there I can't select anything...!! Anybody has a guide or something how to properly set up the t68 as a modem?

Please let me know...

Thanks for any help!

Regards Hulix

Hi Hulix. You have to download the CommIR-file from telesupport. This package contains installfiles to create a virtual comport. I use laptop with IR and use comport 4. Works great!

Hey...

I'm running my laptop on W2K pro and that works fine! I got an integrated IR-port and downloaded as I said earlier CommIR and all the drivers to T68 from www.telesupport.se .

Works fine for me!

If you have problems using XTND connect (Phone not recognised or interruption with syncronisation) try to update the MDAC drivers to version 2.7

Link is here:

Hi,

Sorry not having replied earlier...but I still have the problem. I have a toshiba satellite 1900-101 PIV 1.6GHz...and I have created the vitual com port (port 4,ircomm drivers) and everything seemd to work at least when setting 9.6 kb and analogue. But when I want to increase the speed up to 28.8 it doesn't work anymore. The phone is not reacting at speeds higher than 9.6!! Why?? Where is the problem?? I installed MDAC 2.7...still the same..!! By the way...how fast can HSCSD be?? Isn't it faster than 28.8??? I would appreciate any solution as I'm really pissed of....

thanks a lot...bye

It's not a matter of windows. Some laptops dont support a GPRS connection. Either it is this problem or u haven't done the right config for the modem and PC or it needs some more drivers. I have it on COM5.

Hulix! Don't forget u have to activate the IR on T68 and then put it in front of the IR of the laptop. Then windows should tell u that a wireless link has been made between the two computers. Now go to install a new modem and follow the config step-by-step!

Hi Cadcad,

Thanks for your reply. It is not a problem like how to set up the modem...it works with 9.6kb!! And I don't want to set up the connection via GPRS but over HSCSD. This is why I am wondering why the phone accepts only this speed and nothing else....can't understand...any other advise??

Thanks Hulix

I´ve never heard of anything like this: some laptops doesnt support GPRS?
The laptop doesnt care what you are connecting with as long it finds the "modem" (in this case T68) and can make an connection to the internet.
It doesnt matter if you uses GPRS or HSCSD as long as your settings in the connections are correct. Im quiet sure Im right on this one. Does your network support HSCSD or GPRS shouldnt it be any problems
I uses my T68 on Comviq network, as a GPRS-modem on my Laptop (Compaq Armada M700 650Mhz) and it works nice but slow

Hulix,
I agree with MrNoodles. Check with your phone operator if they support HSCSD. To me it sounds as you are doing it all right.
