Sony has pushed a software update to its SmartWatch, bringing along new watch faces, notification previews, smoother search, and more. The six new watch faces on Sony's version include retro, wacky, contemporary and others, each having different functionality. The SmartWatch can be woken to show the time with a double tap or moving the watch towards you with a twist of the wrist.

Also pushed to the watch is notification previews, enabling users to messages, tweets, email, Facebook wall posts and more. Sony is bragging there are 200 SmartWatch apps available on Google Play, including GPS, a dialer, Google Maps, BlackJack, and more.Lastly have also added a QR Code to make connection even simpler for non-Android handsets and improved battery level indication.

The update will begin pushing out to the SmartWatch, though it is available immediately from Google Play if you just can't wait.

I think I'll be up for one of these watches now the price has come down. I know there were BT disconnection issues with the original LiveView. Have these been resolved?

I agree, LiveView was shit but Smartwatch is so much better. No connection issues (Xperia Arc). Endomondo app supported is great for tracking my cycle routes. Music app great for controlling volume and swapping tracks without getting phone out of pocket
