Hi,
I found this picture while finding info about the upcoming new SE the T610. I think it is rendered. But it looks nice though. What do you guys think?

I'm sorry... but after the T68i... ahem... I mean, after the merger... what the hell did SE do??? Was the first thing on their 'corporate agreement' to fire all the good designers?

Man, what's up with the boxes!?!?!?! The SE designs are even boxier than the old 1990 Ericsson phones!!!

I'm sorry, but the T100, T300, T600 and P800 are all flat boxes! What's wrong??? Couldn't they afford a few French curves? Man, a 1st year design student could do better!!!

Sorry for griping but they really do suck. They're very plain...and not in a good way. They don't even look half as elegant as the older Ericsson phones.

Granted, manufacturing has improved 200%, so has market presence... but designwise... good grief!!! Talk about BORING!

I think that the one and only SonyEricsson, which have trully elegant desing is T68i.

I'm also feeling bad that after T68/T68i Ericsson lost it's nice design and became rather a weird-looking SonyEricsson

I think that the T68i was actually ERICSSON's design and they just made the colours..... it wasn't that boring then, but now it's old news, baby blue.... i mean.... hello, do we look like babies????

Hey, I think the design of this T610 is not that bad! In fact, I think it looks great.

Methinks SE is trying to maintain an identity across their product range. Look at the Clie's design, it is boxy but elegantly designed. It seemed that they are trying to establish their presence in an identity across the board.

Just look at Nokia... the success of their 8250, 8210 etc is still being seen in even their present phones (6100, 6600, 7210 etc). So is Siemens in their ME45, SE45, C55, S55 and so on... What about the Motorola V series?

It is important that SE develop a strong branding in design in this competitive world. The challenge is to take their boxy identity and come up with superb designs.

Sorry, I make my stand that I like what I see in this T610. Keep it up SE!!!

I love it too!

And people keep expecting the T68i successor to keep the looks of T68i. Bear in mind SE has become a different company from Ericsson. If it's to chart its own course of success, it cannot keep banking on past glories, no matter how good the T68i looked. SE has to develop its own brand identity and create a look strong and unique enough. I think it's succeeded in its transformation.

Besides, I think the new look is quiet, understated, elegant. Not kitsch and colourful like Nokia. This look is easy on the eyes, and while not being flashy and colourful, will also not become dated that fast.

Palm was one company that kept banking on the Palm V looks release after release. It became the most boring tired looking device after a while. Clie kept reinventing itself and came up with fresh designs release after release. Anticipation of Clie releases became a bigger event than waiting for the next Palm that will look like, surprise surprise, the Palm V.

I like the design a lot. All new SE phones looks good, T100, T200, T300, T600, P800 and the new T610 looks even better.
I'm begining to hate all the curves and round designs of everything, talk about baby-looking. No, the new SE design is a good move, at least if I can decside.

this is the first genuine SE design that i really like. their last half decent looking phone was the t68i, and as already mentioned, that was just an ericsson t68 in different colours (and to be honest i prefer the ericsson). the t100, t200, t300, t310, even the p800, have ranged from plain to ugly in the looks department.

this isn't too bad tho, takes this boxy look they've insisted on sticking with and actually makes it good. they had too tho eventually.

I hope that there are other phones coming with the style of the Z1010
because the design of the T610 and T100 - is not really what I espect from Sony and Ericsson
