Is the Galaxy S a good buy for someone who wants a decent phone, is new to smart phones, does not want too complicated a phone but would like to have something good and not spend too much either?

Oh and yes, the Galaxy S, the very first one. I want to get it for my uncle. Thanks all

Oh and what is the latest upgrade that this phone can go to. I believe that it might be on 2.3.6.

Second hand, what else is there in the same price range? Maybe you will find a smoother experience in a low-end jb handset. What other phones are there in the same price range?

Thanks. I can get it for about $160 brand new. Is that worth it? Do think there are others in that range which might be a better buy?

Thanks much.
