Hi,

I have the following questions, maybe someone can clear it for me:

 1.
How can I have the mobile phone number be the first when calling a contact. If I have more than one number, one mobile and one home phone, then the land phone is always selected first, so if I try dialing with the flip closed I have to scroll down to the mobile to dial it. This is a bit annoying, can't I set a default number? And then when I select contacts and click ok then it would call it.

 2.
Sometimes when someone is calling and I have them stored in the contacts list the name doesn't appear. In the contacts list I store it +3620 and sometimes the call comes in like 0620 which is domestic. All my previous phones could handle this dilemma but P800 does not.

 3.
Is there a 3rd party software which adds profile support for the P800, like on Nokia (timed profile..etc)

 4.
Will the SMS delivery reports ever be solved? (now I have to add an extra character infront of every SMS to get a response of delivery).

 5.
I downloaded the Opera browser. It doesn't open any page. Not even WAP pages. Nothing happens. The internal browser does display and I can surf all I want, but it doesn't support all pages.

Any ideas on any of the points?

 Thanks,

How can I have the mobile phone...

 -So far, you can't

 2.

-Yes, for some reason, the P800 only detects the LAST 7 digits... meaning, it's even worse than you reported... +1234567890 is the same as +95682564567890. And any incoming calls from either could confuse the P800. This has already been reported to SE

 3.
Is there a 3rd party software which adds profile support for the P800, like on Nokia...

-There is one in development. It should be out by March.

 4.
Will the SMS delivery reports ever be solved?...

-I have no idea about the progress of this feature on the P800.

 5.

-Yes, you're using a WAP account... Opera doesn't support WML pages, only the internal browser does. Most providers have a separate Internet gateway for WAP, and another for the Web. Check your provider's settings for surfing with a LAPTOP.

Opera and the Internal browser complement each other... the internal browser can handle WAP, basic HTML & XML... while Opera can handle HTML 4, Javascript, and regular web functions. They work together. You don't have to have Opera if all you do is surf WAP sites/services (I would recommend sticking to the internal browser since WAP is cheaper over GPRS due to the low graphics/text only format)... but at least it's free. |

Your answer to number 5 is not correct.

The Opera browser supports WML pages just fine. Open wap.esato.com in Opera and you will see. The problem is probably that sintax's operator is only allowing through WAP pages on his connection and is not providing just normal dialup internet access which is what you need if you want to browse anything else including HTML, FTP etc.

Well... lucky you. My Opera doesn't open WAP sites at all... even wap.esato.com And I try both the internal browser and Opera over the same connection... internal browser works fine on WAP sites and some html pages. Opera doesn't work at all. I'm trying this over ALL my connections (GPRS WAP gateway, GPRS WEB gateway, Bluetooth-Cable connection)

I find it strange since these are the specs for both browsers... they're almost identical. I'm guessing maybe it's just the way they request for info.

 Opera supports:
 -HTML 4.01
 -XHTML
 -CHTML
 -CSS
 -WCSS
 -WML 1.3

 Internal broswer supports:
 -HTML 3.2
 -XHTML
 -CHTML
 -WBXML
 -WML 1.3
 -WAP 2.0

Try this...

 In the Control Panel...

In WAP Accounts look to see which Internet Account your preferred WAP account uses.

Then in Internet Accounts make sure that the Internet Account that your preferred WAP account is using is the preferred Internet Account.

Now open Opera and try and open a Web Site or a WAP site. Opera should make a connection using the preferref Internet Account. If you are viewing WAP it should use the preferred WAP Account, which in turn is using the preferred Internet Account for it's connection.

If this still doesn't work then I am convinced that it is your operator that is blocking things that is screwing you up.

You can prove a point, if you have a dial-up internet account that you use on your PC you can also configure this on the P800 set it as the preferred Internet Account and Opera will dial-up and use it when you try and connect to the internet for either HTML or WML pages. I tried this and it worked for me.

Its hard to understand your problem. I just installed Opera and it worked. It uses my PCs connection when connected by USB or IR (I don't have BT on the PC so I can't try this), and when mobile it uses my operators defined GPRS connection and works for both HTML and WML pages. I didn't change anything. So I am convinced that it's your operators settings that are different in some way from the vast majority of peoples who are not having a problem with Opera.

Hi,

Yes, but if my operator only supports Wap pages, then how come I can access HTML pages just fine with the Internal browser. Even www.esato.com/web, which IMO an HTML page. The weird thing is that Opera does not do anything, doesn't even display an error.

Actually jplacson is right, show in list only works when the flip is open |

uhmm, what character do you put in front of an SMS to get a delivery report? I tried the multi-char ones but those didn't work... |
