with the current set up of P800, its impossible to have a one ring tone. Sometimes, when im in a meeting, its very useful to have a one ring tone. Now, i have to either switch my phone off or have it on!!
anybody with an idea of where to get a one BEEP or one RING tone???
thanks |

You can try to download a WAV file of a single tone. Just type WAV in Google and there are a lot of free sites out there. |

Although the phone always repeats the ringtone, it should be possible to fool it by having a really long ringtone like 30 seconds long. I think it will play the whole ringtone before trying to repeat. I think I had an IMY ringtone on my old T68i that consisted of a beep followed by only flashing and vibrating for about 30 seconds. You should be able to use the same thing on the P800. I will see if I can find something like this or make something using the editor on the T68i and then I'll try it on my P800. If it works I'll let you know.
I'm at work right now so don't expect anything until tonight or maybe tomorrow.

You could set it to silent. The vibrate still works in this mode, but that's not what D_G asked for is it?
He specifically asked for one beep or one repeat of a ringtone.

Try the following...
BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
VOLUME:V15
MELODY:V15*6c4vibeonr3(vibeoffr3vibeonr3vibeoffr3vibeonr3vibeoffr3vibeonr3@0)
END:IMELODY
Save the above in a file called 'something.imy' and save it on the P800 somewhere under the audio folder (in Unfiled is probably best). On a T68i this plays a single note then vibrates forever. On the P800 the vibrate doesn't seem to work, but if you have the vibrate setting turned on then this works as usual. If the single note is too loud then edit the V15 settings on VOLUME and MELODY (15 is max) or just turn down the ringtone volume on the P800. It worked for me anyway!

@D_G
copy the text from the post starting from the BEGIN line up to the END line...
open notepad and paste the section you've just copied and save to a text file...
give it any name but make sure it has .IMY for an extention...
send this file to your P800...
if ur using the SE filemanager, copy it to this directory:
MyP800
Phone
-audio
--unfiled

I don't understand what's going wrong for you D_G. I just tested this again by copying the text from the message here in the forum and saving it as a file with a .imy extension. Then I copied it to the P800 and voila! I could select it as a ringtone and I could preview it. It played OK.
I don't know what else to suggest. Can some other people here try it and find out if it works for you? If it works for some but not for others then maybe you could also post your firmware versions, maybe SonyEricsson have changed something between versions?
I am running R1B.

That's interesting, because P800 is supposed to be compatible with IMY tones.
Not only is it not fully compatible (if I put any backlight or kepad flashes in a ringtone it doesn't work on P800), but the compatibility is different between different levels of firmware.
This is bad. If there is something in the IMY tone that can't be represented on the P800 like the keypad flash it should just ignore it. I consider this a bug and hope SE fix it in a later release of firmware.

i copied and saved the text to a file and sent it to my P800...
i didn't work... the problem is not with the P800, it's with the file i saved... it contained an extra space at the end of each line... i deleted those xtra spaces, sent the edited file back to P800 and it worked...
the vibra and backlight commands don't work on the P800, only the notes and other commands related to playing the tune (tempo, beat etc...) are recognized by the P800...
vibra and backlight commands were probably removed from P800 for practical reasons, since making your backlight flash and your P800 vibrate during an incomming call would consume a lot of power, drains the battery a lot quicker...
hope this helps... |
