Earlier this month we learned that Samsung will soon start rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to the venerable Galaxy S II in the coming weeks. The rollout has now begun and Spain is one of the first countries to get the update, with other countries to follow shortly.
The 4.1.2 update is currently only available to the international GSM version of the handset (I9100). The update will bring a new interface design, similar to the one on the Galaxy S III or the Note II. Other changes include a smoother UI thanks to Project Butter, Google Now, two homescreen modes, Direct Call, Smart Stay Pop-up Play, new notification toggles, camera improvements and much more.
The update needs to be downloaded using Kies on your computer. If it is not available for your device right now, it should be available shortly.

Samsung has just started to push Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update to the International Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100. The Galaxy S II is the best-selling Android device of 2011 and has a very large user base that’s why Samsung keeps on updating this device with all the new Android versions as they want to provide the Galaxy S II users with their best support experience.
You might not be able to update your device to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean right away as the update is rolling out in phases. So, it might not yet be available for your country or network provider (If Your device is Carrier branded) but don’t worry the update will arrive soon.
In the history of software updates, the new Jelly Bean update by Samsung to the Galaxy S II is by far the most major update given to a smartphone yet. As we all know Samsung’s ICS update didn’t had any UI changes and had exactly the same UI which was in its Gingerbread but this is not the case with Samsung’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update. The new jelly bean update breathes a new life into the Galaxy S II, Samsung has completely ditched the old UI and has given the new Nature UX Interface, which is the same as the one being used in the Galaxy S III Mini and the Galaxy S III, in its latest Jelly Bean update.

Impressive stuff by Samsung, their 2011 flagship has received it's Android4.1.2 JellyBean update even before the Xperia S just as I predicted, and before some other 2012 flagships to, I hope the Galaxy S3 receives this sort of great support to.

That's interesting..  . Should I ditch AOKP for this?
Did anyone who had CM10/AOKP tested this update? If yes, is it faster than those custum ROMs?

Great to hear please let me know how the battery life goes? My Galaxy S2 is on 4.0.4 and has had outstanding battery life, I dont want to ruin that by rushing to install a new FW.
Was using my S2 the other day, must say, Samsung hit the nail on the head with its design, although i prefer my S3, the S2's design felt so simple, lite and sleek, great for most average users, explains why they released an S2 Plus.

Tsepz_GP, I have the extended battery kit so I am always covered for a day usage Agree on the design and feel of this phone, imo still among the top ten

Just flashed latest Sammy ROM (I9100XWLSN) and the performance seems better than AOKP ROM I had (JB-MR1 Build 6). Plus less buggy. GPS worked at first try inside (via GPS Status) while on AOKP JB-MR1 Build 6 I've waited minutes outside an no satellites.
Tested Facebook, the scrolling is much smoother than on AOKP 
Only if Samsung made a better UI..
