Got the update for "Album" app. The new version is 5.1.A.0.4. Looks good till now. I wish they had some settings wherein we could exclude some Folders from showing up in Album app. That would have a Perfect app. Now waiting for the "Walkman" update.

Sony updates Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, improves performance
Looks like lots of bugfixes and performance enhancements, list of changes reported by users on the link. Interesting part about the list is:
High resolution image snapping while recording a non-HDR video
Low-light image quality improved
Its nice to know they are focusing on camera quality too.

GSMArena should have published a new review for this version. Too bad they're obviously biased towards Samsung/iPhones. whenever those two gets a new firmware those turds would comb heaven and earth to review them, but when Sony does, oh well it's just another day

Agree, I'd like to see samples too with the newer firmware done in the usual Gsmarena way since they take the same pictures in their location so it's easy to compare.

Guys
Update for XZ is available in India - 10.3.1.A.0.244.
Just checked and downloading it.
THe Sony Mobile Indian site does not yet reflect the availability of this update, but my PC Companion showed the new update for XZ. I'll post once the update is done.
UpdateD!!! Looks good till now and the UI feels smoother now. The fade effect when locking the phone is not there any more. I had a problem with wrong battery reading, very rarely though. Let's see if that has been fixed.
Will post rest after using it for few days.

Does the update to 4.2.2 from 4.1.2 need a back up of your data on phone? |

Not needed...When I updated the data was untouched. You can take a backup to be safe, as a precaution.

The new update for xperia z improves a lot. I was not very happy with previous update, luckily the new solve everything. And I like the new socialife app a lot. Now socialife app is my default fb app. |

I hope for the same, as I`m not so happy with original 4.2 either... phone is slower than before, browser is rediculously slow and draw/render pages very strange in portions with scrolling taking some seconds to render pages, multitasking is also slower than before. I have a glitch when chaninging volume - it change the settings but didin`t show it and the bar stay at the same position on the screen, even though restarting the device resolve that it`s annoying to have a powerfull device which didin`t do so basic things such as this. I had some crash reports also which never had before the update for about half a year. Hopefully this new firmware will change things. |

Did anyone else notice that in the new album app (not included in the new FW but is rolling out as a separate update in the update centre) bundles your burst shots into an animation? Really nice feature.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

The new update polishes the phone, really.
Smooth, fast, responsive.
Camera is great. For the night too.
Really enjoying the device, again.

I would love to use Socialife as well since it looks so good.
But it doesn't give even half of the functionality you have with regular FB app.
And I need this in my usage.

The new socialife provides good fb functionality. The only lacking is share button, as of now, I couldn't find ways to share any status. Other than that, I think it can do everything pretty much. |

Be very careful with the water resistance.
All of the flips were closed but my Xperia Z has broken anyway.
Service center claims that flips are all right and liquid contact has caused the problem.
Therefore, they say that one of the flips were open during the liquid contact.
But I am sure that all the flips were closed.
Please be careful.
Forever !!! |
