Very Interesting.
They rated design, software, performance and overall - 5/5.
Screen got 4/5. Camera 4.5/5 and battery 4/5
Surprisngly the Battery life is much better than Nexus 4 and closer to Note 2
With regards to the screen their main complaint was that the whites are not as white as on One X, and blacks in complete darkness are also lighter. But in terms of color performance, it came out on top beating Nexus 4, One X, Note 2 etc.
This is their verdict:
The coherent offered by the Sony Xperia Z deserves a 5/5 because it is the best phone of the year 2013 which is not very difficult as it is one of the first premium that comes to us early this year. More generally, it is also the best high-end smartphone confused every generation taking the best of what is. It is certainly not the cheapest (difficult to compete with the Nexus 4) and will see land competition soon, but Sony has erased all the defects of previous generations of its Android smartphones.
Big praise there |

3 store had one set up live and working so I had a play with it at lunch. First impressions:
- Screen is lovely, vivid and bright, whites were very white and it reminded my which I much prefer LED over AMOLED.
- The ppi thing has become overrated now; I couldn't really tell the difference ppi wise from the Xperia S, I think you'd have to put the thing under a microscope to notice. With normal viewing you can't notice the different. Same with 1080p screen; I don't think it's a massive jump.
- Very, very slick and fast; no lag whatsoever, menus were buttery smooth and transitions as well.
- Build quality is hands down best so far in any Android.
- Camera loads up very quickly and takes photos very quickly as well.
- Big but I think you could get used to this.
Think Sony have a real winner here, it's a really beautifully designed phone. |

Another stellar review:

CAMERA
The 13-megapixel camera on the Xperia Z is rather impressive as far as Android phones go; it produces images that are very decent in terms of captured detail, colour reproduction and noise levels in both daytime and low-light conditions. It’s definitely a much-improved camera from last year’s flagship, the Xperia S, and I’ve been very satisfied with it.
The camera app on the Xperia Z has loads of options, including an interesting HDR video mode that I haven’t had the opportunity to try just yet, an intelligent auto mode like what you would get on any decent point-and-shoot camera, a sweep panorama mode and a range of scene modes in addition to the usual touch focus, exposure compensation, ISO and white balance features. One quirk of Sony’s camera app is that you cannot use the camera on the Xperia Z while listening to music or any kind of audio; I really wish this would have been fixed long ago. |

It's a joke about the camera witch i find pretty bad. I thing Xperia S and T are better for still image quality !
The screen isn't as good as expected
Too bad these two points are important for me, the Z will never for me. |

How many times have we said, the demo units are not for sale and not built using the IPS screens, the actual production models look brilliant and way better than the demo models, GSMARENA have contacted Sony for another model, they will revisit the test, most likely they will get a retail device this time.
This is why it is called a "preview" not a view?
Dont worry dude, wait till its released, only 2 weeks to go then go down to your local store and see it for yourself, specs on paper can be different to what you will actually see or prefer

Don't tell me what to do, and I'll tell you where to go. Every criticism in this thread automatically make people Samsung fanboy... I repeat for people in tank: it is very strange that screen in top super device worse than my Xperia TX half year old. What's wrong with Sony in this department?
I saw retail unit in showroom at Moscow, and screen just like Xperia Arc, not TX. |

@Xenia... Actually... You don't have to go search anywhere else... You can go thro' this very thread and know how spectacular the screen is... Also XDA devs & neogaf... Lots of people have seen it & been AMAZED with it... Of course, you've seen it too... But who knows, you might've seen a bad prototype or something, like how TX was claimed to sport different displays for different regions... You can take their comments into account, if you wish... Regarding viewing angle, it depends... I don't really care abt it... But I can't expect everyone to be like me... So that's your opinion that I can't interrupt...
Xperia Z drop test...
