I made a false accusation about a colleague at work and think my manager overheard. I feel really ill and don't know what to do. I really messed up.

If you think they overheard then the best thing is to be honest and upfront and give him / her the reasons why. You might just get disciplined. How serious was the accusation?

I think it is bad, but maybe it's because I'm usually a very nice person. I'm mad with myself to be honest.

May be your manager will think it's just idle gossip. It might not be as bad as it seems.

That's right. I agree with goldenface. If you are a good person then you have the right to make a mistake. Although your bad actions will sound louder than your goods. But I hope this is not the case.
In my opinion you just need to fix the things up with your colleague. Your manager probably won't never find out that it happened.
