Sony imo has killed the VAIO line! How many people need this kind of battery life, which sacrifices performance! They've replaced the S series with the Pro!? What a joke! I may take my laptop places but at 90% of those places I can find a socket to plug it in. It seems to me only the Xperia, Playstation and perhaps the Bravia brands are being focused on this year. The rest have either been cut down, discontinued or being worked on for next year.

Umm dude? They didn't replace the S series with the Pro by any means. The pro is basically the continuation of the Z series of VAIOs which was discontinued last year.

Also, I find it utterly hilarious that you're pissed off BECAUSE IT HAS A VERY LONG BATTERY LIFE! I mean, holy crap man, there are many things to complain about in this world, but one of the biggest selling features is NOT one of them.

Apparently people like a shorter battery life because... they like to carry around chargers with them everywhere and plug it in!

... apparently...

Anyways, I am loving what I'm seeing on the Duo so far. The hard part now is to figure out if I truly need this beast, or if I can wait even longer to see what comes next year. Playing that waiting game sure does suck donkey balls. I LOVED the Duo 11 when it first came out, but quickly saw its various faults. The Duo 13 seems to fix all of that... hmmmm... decisions, decisions.

I mean, if I wanted the white Tablet Z, I would have had to pay $599 Canadian. This white Duo 13 will probably be starting at around 1400-1500 Canadian. It's more than double, yeah... but you get so much more!

BAH! I'll have to go to sleep... gonna dream about phones and tablets tonight!

Long battery life is good but not if it sacrifices performance! These are notebooks we are talking about not tablets or smartphones! How are you supposed to do anything CPU or GPU intensive on these things!? I'm a programmer, there's no way these notebooks can replace even my 5 year old notebook! If you only surf the web, watch videos and other minor things go get a tablet instead...

You do realize that the VAIO Pro series are not the only computers Sony makes, right? So far for this year we only have the Fit series, the Pro and Duo. I don't think we've seen all of Sonys new VAIOs by a long shot. Don't whine when what's shown so far isn't suitable for your needs. It's quite suitable for many OTHER peoples needs. Sit and wait if you want to see if they release something more suitable for you.

They haven't released any in over a year! I'm not complaining, it's just these VAIOs seem to not offer that much over a tablet. Will these models really sell well for Sony? I wouldn't mind buying any of these 2 models but I can't see me using them much other than on an airplane and a few other scenarios. I'm concerned about Sony, as I've seen a lot of people waiting for some of their products and thus far being disappointed...

and how would they SACRIFICE performance?... I assume CPUs, GPU's and even batteries get more and more "energy efficient" . together with speed technology develops nowadays,... hardware will be getting better and better. Having long battery life as NOTEBOOK is important as you will carry it around. if you dont carry it, why buy a notebook? why not buy a super Desktop instead?...

Buddy, these are ultrabooks. You can't complain about performance, ultrabooks are never meant to have great performance.

Sony's 2013 "notebook" range is still to be unveiled.

Vaio Pro 11/13 and Vaio 13 come under Ultrabook category

The point is that for the features and size of the Pro series, you can NOT expect the performance of a top end, far larger laptop. Even still, the Pro 13 can be equiped with an i7 CPU, 8 gigs of RAM and a 512 gig SSD. Not shabby at all for something so tiny.

If you're hoping for bigger computers, wait and be patient. No use in complaining that these computers don't meet your expectations when they're meant for a different market segment.
