@ Randomuser

Any chance of earlier release of X i1?

The unofficial source(SMC China staff) mentioned the release would be in Jul-Aug.

I made a thread for ZR. I guess we can continue it there since it's not rumour anymore.

Oh, lol. I was just looking at this video of the ZR on Youtube and thought, "oh cool, shutter button for underwater use!"

It didn't even strike me that this is a brand new model, lol

Well, the results/reasons are just as I predicted.

I hope I`m wrong of course. :wink

Sony, please take me to your Marketing team and I`ll help you to turn things around!

PS: I expected Dogo to be more compact and beautiful.

I suppose we can only hope that these little improvements we're seeing here and there will make their way into Honami. The shutter button needs to make it into a water resistant phone for those underwater photos/videos.

So I guess we're looking at 1-2 months for Togaris Japanese annoucement, and still 3-4 for Honami eh? Ah well.

or is there certain hardware/software customization on the Japan only phones that would make this not possible?

FYI, I have been using imported japanese phones for quite sometime. All phone nowadays are unlocked, but there are some limitations. The only feature that is missing is the LTE, as it runs on a different band to the rest of us.

Also, they are bootloader locked and it seems that most custom roms does not run on the Japanese handsets without modification.

Docomo handsets are as bad as AT&T handsets in terms of updates. They never release the GB update to X10 nor the ICS to arc.

On the plus side, they have a better hardware to the rest of us. For start, the memory is often twice the size of the international version, (ie 16GB for XV, 32GB for XTZ LTE), have a better audio module and a better camera.

I'm wondering why we need Xperia SP and Xperia ZR. The difference isn't that big. Without the SP in the portfolio the ZR could have a cheaper price I think.

What are the differences between the ZR and A?
so far Xperia A 16gb vs 8gb ZR internal memory, xperia A seems to have a notification light like the Xperia ZL but I haven't seen in on the Xperia ZR.
Nothing written about it anywhere, its not a deal breaker just a nice extra to break up all the empty space at the bottom of the phone.

Does the Xperia ZR use LTE 4G?

Would it be possible to flash the generic international Sony ZR software to the A and get updates the same time as everyone else?

No, this isn't possible due to hardware differences. Some things may not work like the radio for example.
