Correct me if I am wrong, but I got the feeling that all these rumors are a bit crazy...

Again, I may be wrong, but I doubt a sensor as big as 1/1.5" (which require a decent lenses unit) can be fitted in such a slim body...

All slim Cyber Shots currently on the market have 5x optical zoom and OIS, but all have a ridiculously small sensor.

The Nokia 808 PureView, which packs a 1/1.2" sensor, has a big bump at its back, which takes its thickness up to 18mm.

So unless the Honami (or i1) has a similar bump, it's very unlikely that this device will feature such a big sensor.

What if the sensor might be slim,Ramu mentioned it will be exclusive for Sony only,so we may expect some chnages compared to Xperia Z

hope Sony doesnt disappoint us

I don't see how a stacked sensor (another of i1 rumors) can be slimmer than its Bayer counterpart.

Let's not forget it's Sony we are talking about here and not Samsung or Nokia or LG or HTC.

Sony engineering is outstanding and they have proven how well they can fit the most powerful internals in small packages. Be it Vaio Z or RX100 or RX1 or NEX 3/5 etc to name a few.

Still, I'd say its unlikely to be 8mm thin even at its thinnest point.

I agree, Sony makes sensors for most manufacturers. Neither Nokia nor HTC make their sensors. I remember that Nokia has an agreement with Toshiba for their camera sensors.

But mind you that focal length ALONE for such a big sensor would require something as thick as 7mm. It's very likely that this sensor will pack some sort of mechanical stabilization. Take everything like a protective lens, motherboard and display thickness into account and we will end up with something probably 15mm thick. Hope Sony proves me wrong!

10 mm going up to 14-15 at the sensor is likely for the Xperia i1 Honami. I wonder if they will take Nokia's approach of putting the sensor on top of the phone, ala N8/808, thus making the phone top heavy, or go their own way and maybe put it towards the middle.. kind of like the Satio..

It took a while for Sony(Ericsson) to get a grip of android's imaging stack and jpeg processing, but it seems like they are finally there.

Either way, this is really good news for photography lovers.. and I am really hoping its water proof..

This technology will go head to head with the Nokia EOS .. which if rumors are true, should be better than the 808.

I have high hopes regarding it. It would be really nice if they provide us with bigger pixels than we already got in current and past cameraphones. 2 micron pixels would be very nice indeed.

Let's hope that the lenses used won't kill the sensor resolution like in all SE or Sony past cameraphones.

I have a Nokia 808 PureView and all I can say is that a great part of its success is down to its lenses. What a wonderful resolved resolution they have! The N8 suffered from intensive flare, but the 808 is quite impressive when it comes to optical quality.

People tend to look at the sensor size only, even DSLR starters. The truth is that a bad lens can really bottleneck a great sensor.

10.1 thick? I like those dimensions! This should lay very good in ones hand! Size and weight are very equal to Xperia S which has only 4.3" screen:

Xperia S:
128 x 64 x 10.6 mm
144 g

Xperia A:
131 x 59 x 10.5 mm
141 g

Don't like that "yo momma" dimensions. Come on Sony, make your phones slimmer, not just your flagships.

I get a little doubtful when I see 59 mm, 67 mm should be more realistic...
