Really hate AT&T....no new Sony phone for them till Spring 2014. Idiots. Maybe they will pull their head out of their @$$ and change their minds.
I think they going with regional base market (ZL with Cincinati Bell) maybe worthy for Sony as matter of now.
ZL will not sell, when there is Z. Just look at the Canadian market, ZL sales are abysmal, people refuse to buy it. |

ZL imo has a hideous plastic back, and the flap makes it look even worse...

There's also no marketing for the ZL and the one most marketed feature for the Z, the water resistance, is missing from ZL. ZL could sell well if Sony made their marketing about it and it focused on 'lol look how big Samsung and HTC are, and look how much smaller their display is compared to ours'. |

Yes, One Sony uses all new picture processing algorithm
And to aurelius, too, if you have info.
Would the rest of the other phones after the One Sony also have a new picture processing algorithm? I think they need to revamp all of the new gen phones software-wise, a major revamp. |

Would be even better if it could be ported to older devices (such as Xperia S)... Would make the camera rock even better.

True, especially while Xperia S users are 7 months thirsting for an update. Sony needs back the trust consumers had back when it was with Ericsson.

If Sony can't even fix the viewing angles problem with the phablet and One Sony, I can't even be confident they will fix the post processing algorithm in their future smartphone cameras. I mean, at least a few employees at Sony must read reviews right? Hire me Sony |

What is so obsession about viewing angles?
people looking side of the phone or front of the phone?
Viewing angles is just hype nothing special at all just a dumb hype. |

@worf: No one views their phone from the side, but good viewing angles mean that the color reproduction is better at all angles not just straight on. Why settle for a good looking screen at the optimal angle when it can be a good looking screen at all angles? Most phones with bad viewing angles wash out if you move it just slightly. I'm baffled why so many here don't care for viewing angles, my guess is they're used to Sony Ericsson screens and never had a phone with a good IPS screen. For instance, my iPhone 4's screen still stands up to my sister's HTC One X because its viewing angles are jut as good. |

I view my Z straight on and the poor viewing angles are noticeable nonetheless. What I notice is that the half the screen is very slightly discoloured (most noticeable on white pages i.e. 90% of the internet) the top and bottom areas of the screen will loo yellowish.
Tilting just a few degrees down will correct the perceived discoloured area at the top but then the bottom of the screen will look discoloured.
This isn't the case with my 'old' TX. Which at even 45+º colour reproduction was perfect. White pages always looked entirely white from top to bottom.
This isn't a deal breaker for me, it is just a slight annoyance that it's a step down from TX, especially as it's most noticeable than the increase in pixel density. 1 step forward 2 steps back.
Colour degradation in other situations is not noticeable until you get to about 45º and viewing diagonally. e.g. watching a movie or playing a game where there are many colours and lots of movement. Sony have dropped the ball a bit on the screen of Z, however, it is the only dark mark on a brilliantly glowing report.
The issue I describe here is hardware based i.e. no amount of calibration will fix it. I believe the glass is thicker and very slightly tinted pink/purple. This is obvious when you look at sunlight reflected off the screen onto a white surface. I'm not sure what is causing this tint (the type of glass or the 'new' touch and glass fusion tech or the new peculiar touch detection patterning) but it is definitely there. Again comparing to TX, TX doesn't have a coloured tint to the screen and the pixels seem closer to the surface of the glass.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

Who said ?
Only phablet may use a screen with less than perfect viewing angles, One Sony will use a panel with 178 degree viewing angle.
And the new picture processing will be seen on One Sony, not phablet. |

Sounds like my preorder for the SGS4 is going to be canceled soon.. The One Sony sounds so more tempting, and really worth waiting the extra months for!

The picture processing is pretty easy... just make the burst mode picture the Normal mode -- in other words, remove their post-processing algorithm. It's not needed. |

Just a few days until financial results for Q4 2013 and 2013 full year are released. Let's guess how many phones Sony sold.
I think about 9 million for Q4 and 32 milion for full year. |
