Well if these quotes from Kaz are accurate, it appears to confirm that Sony will focus more on the high end of the smartphone business.

So just a few more days until we see the new tablet eh... NICE! I was afraid we might have to wait until MWC which is so far away.

I'm on the verge of buying a Nexus 10, I don't know if I can hold on for the increasingly credible Xperia Tablet Z.
I need to buy a tablet by first week in March (for work). Timing really sucks!

Sony CEO: We're Making 'Baby Steps' to Strong Products
CEO says Sony is on track for comeback
The bilingual CEO said he has traveled around the world six or seven times visiting Sony's facilities since he took his post in April of last year. He now hand picks products that looks promising and actively supports their development.
"I'm shepherding several of those projects personally, myself, to make sure that they don't get held up in bureaucracy or don't suddenly fade away," he said. |

Exciting times ahead. Innovative products don't have to be mega successful, I hope we see some new gadgets that really wow us.

Almost exactly a year back there were a lot of people here who questioned whether Sony will be able to even "survive" in the smartphone market going solo.
And here we are, one year later with Sony being the World's No.3 smartphone maker and revenues reaching never before seen levels.
Sony made it big in a VERY short time |

Just like to report again on how well the Sony-oblivious 'tech-interested' guys have to think about the Z.
People that I told about the leaked Z specs would say they don't care, Xperias are rubbish, etc.
Now, they thank me for introducing them to it, lol, they say it's amazing, and their most loved feature is to see an amazing phone with the water-resistance!
The 2H flagship and all yearly flagship Xperias better be water resistant... |

thanks sam honestly from my view this post as the day of CES where SONY officially make us see the Z after we all saw it unofficially so nothing new except it's official ))
this good to also SHARP & TOSHIBA to go in mainstream and budget as they want and for PANASONIC to enter the rugged phones , phaplets & tablets as they want
so it is a winner situation for all the Japanese Major companies |

He said Sony will not be making entry level phones. XJ is not entry level. Entry level is much cheaper.
