About the Odin/Yuga, I wonder why Sony will keep doing the different-designs-for-different-market strategy. Why can't they just build one, top-tier quality, great designed phone for the global market? It seems to work for Apple...

If that image is the real Yuga phone, I can just imagine the outcries of "iPhone 4 copy", having both a glass front and back.

I can barely see anything in those two tiny pictures, but it doesn't look like a glass back to me....
In any case, I suggest we wait till we have some conclusive images to go off of.

The "top" picture has a lot of NXT design philosophy in it, looks a lot like the SXS but it's not.
Bottom picture has HTC One X design philosophy.

Some potentially bad news could be waiting for us on November 1. Q3 shipments from Sony are expected to be below 7 million.

Anyway, though off topic but I think I'd still mention it. Sony 55 inch and above Crystal LED TVs coming next year. Will be priced much lower than OLED TVs from Samsung and LG. Crystal LED has longer lifetime, better colors and lower power consumption compared to OLED while still achieving "perfect" blacks.

Though not likely, it would be nice to have a Crystal LED display on a Xperia smartphone.

Great to hear about CLED! I do have to ask though, is this info from the Wallstreet Journal article earlier this month, or from another source?

What does this mean to the Arc and NXT design/line?

I would love to see something like these in the future (especially the left one):

@vivftp

I didn't read any article about Crystal LED on WSJ Can you post a link ?

But yeah, both OLED and Crystal LED sets from Sony Next year. If it pays off, Sony could have a good chance of turning things around for the better in the television business.

Hope the mobile division will turn around completely as well by next year.

Anyway guys, why don't you all take a guess on how many units Sony shipped in Q3 ? The one who comes closest to the actual figure will get 5 points. The first person to get to 20 points will get a 2013 Sony accessory free from me And if one single individual gets 5 points 4 times in a row (20) he will get either Odin/Yuga or any Sony phone of his choice shipped home free of cost. (anywhere in the world)

And yea since we don't want the thread to go completely off topic, write your guess at the end of your next post in this thread which should be on topic

Here ya go

http://online.wsj.com/article[....]0121005-903831.html?mod=crnews

I've been scouring the net for any more info, but not much since this article. Could it be your source comes back to the WSJ article, or is it another independant source?

5.6 million units?
Just curious, you 'less than 7 million' is a guess or from an insider? I hope it's a guess. Onward Sony!

Less than 7 million is not my guess but IDC figures. I too hope the numbers are greater than that.
