@ Japanes guys How badly do you think Japanese economy downturn in Q3 and Q4 going to hurt Sony? and after that how is the sales tax hike going to affect Sony's sales?

Are you asking if we think there will be a downturn or do you know there will be one? (source?)

Sony is big and diversified, and would be affected by a downturn, but if it is limited to Japan, they may have a growth strategy abroad that could offset this.

Re the sales tax hike, I do not know, the news I read say the economy would sustain it, so we can only suppose Sony would as well.

If we narrow the conversation about Sony Mobile / Xperia in Japan, then it becomes an easier conversation.
What is going to hurt them is clear like crystal: not a fall in smartphones sales volume in Japan or the economy, but the iphone at Docomo. If Docomo gives good discounts for the Z1, it would help Sony, but I do not see them repeating the sales volumes of Xperia A. Also, i think Japan INC must be presuring docomo to evenly spread the any discount between the Japanese makers.

The worst case scenario for Sony mobile in Japan would be that docomo judges Sony had it's fair share of discounts with Xperia A already, and limits the discounts to Sharp and Fujitsu. In that case Z1 would be doomed commercially. To be clear, this is not the scenario I anticipate, but this would be the worst case.

Mr.Stringer may not have seen so much successful as top man for Sony, but his contribution that steer company into right track of direction, this was key why Sony did not fall like other Japanese electronic companies which hard-struggle in today business (Sharp Panasonic and few others)

As I see, it only Sony and Toshiba (not presence in phone business) that are fight hard enough and remain bit positive outlook in Japanese gloomy days economic situation.

And if Tokyo still keep going under Washington's direction, it maybe not end well that is what fear.

Xperia Z2 might be flap-less. My source showed me a Cyber-Shot DSC-H70's port and told me same method might be used to protect electronic devices from water. on that cam it's just for keeping the dust out.

Hey guys, Any info about the release date of 'Honami Mini'. I am really waiting for that.

Also, Sony make quality products. I don't think that advertisements should change the decision of people who know that. Sony here sells by itself. The main problem that they should be concerned with is, availability. They have to make it available in other places where Samsung and apple have a strong presence.

It's pretty sad that in-spite of such good products people do look for more advertisements & marketing. In reality if marketing and advertisement are done away with, then we could get these products at much cheaper rates. But, human psychology is the main reason why even these companies have to spend huge amount of money in expensive marketing.

Nokia was the first one to fall, followed by blackberry. Hopefully Sony is not going to be considered in the same league.

Yeah! So true.
Just some time back Sony was releasing the same handsets with different names all the way . And the rumor factory was also filled with a lot of excitement. But, this time. It seems things have started to slow down a bit.

Dear sony, please, for the next flagships, stop saving money by implementing cheaper panels to flagships. the z1 is more flagship and premium device then the z ultra, yet the z ultra got better viewing angles: http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]up-against-the-xperia-z-ultra/
many people do care about viewing angles. please, do not ignore this. yes, you improved from the z, but the z1 should not have inferior viewing angles then the z ultra.

^but it looks nicer than ZU straight on.

which would you prefer? A better view at an angle you use 99.9999999% of the time, or a better view, you use 0.00000000001% of the time?

I choose option 1 every time. it's not like Z1's viewing angles are terrible either. some units seem to have bad viewing angles based on photos and some may actually have a bad panel (which sucks but quality issues can arise during such a fast launch). but I can tell you from personal experience, it's a matter of who's taking the photo. I can MAKE my Z1 .. LOOK like it has terrible viewing angles than it actually does. See it with your own eyes before you pass judgment that's all I gotta say.

only in the 6th picture z1 looks clearly better. 1: z ultra wins - look at those z1 orange hues, what the?. 2: the z ultra's colors look a bit sharper to me, but let's say a tie. 3-5: pretty much a tie. 6: z1 wins here it seems in noticeable way. 7-8, 13: maybe the z1 colors are less exposed but it's really hard to notice so i would compromise for this less accuracy for viewing angles. in all the rest of the pics the ultra wins due to va's. i'll take z ultra screen any day, but not it's size, hehe... sony, 5.5-6 inch next time?
all in all, the z1 superiority when looking straight is hard to notice and only in few of the straight angle pics, and this can't be said for va's, or lack of. it may seem for some nit picking, but sony need to take a look at this - va's and these strange orange hues. z1 got a good screen (minus this orange hues in some of the pics that are very noticeable in the first pic... reminds me of amoled greenish hues a bit), but... next time. consumers are never satisfied.
